your guess is as good as mine.

they are in discussions. i think the discussions mostly read something like this

bates : can NewCo have the share?
mawhinney : nope

but yes, wyp are pressing for a conclusion and confirmation either way. we're not at home until the 18th of august though. and tranmere are going to end up screwing up for our away game on the 11th anyway by making it pay on the gate as they will not sell the tickets to the club.

Thanks for the update. I still wonder how Tranmere are going to deal with the police issue. I think they will have to confirm that their presence is required 7 days before (4th August) , but will they be willing to do this, if Leeds aren't guaranteed to be playing..?

You can't blame them though, really, can you? You'd only end up offering 20p each for them [12p concessions].

nah, not blaming them at all.

dont know cjd. the whole thing is a farce - from all sides. bates being bates, kpmg for being as much use a chocolate fire guard and the fl for not really knowing what is going on and being unable to get 4 members of staff in a room at the same time.

I find this whole thing with Leeds quite amazing. I suppose one the most astonishing things, is that this news is barely being mentioned in the tabloids. If ever a club has fallen so far from grace in such a short time, it must be Leeds United (and I don't say that with any malice ).If this situation was about Man Utd or Chelsea etc etc the football world would be holding it's breath to see how it pans out.
For the supporters, I hope it resolves itself quickly (with the result that the supporters want). Nobody wants to see a club go to the wall because of "upright and honest" directors.

BATES BLASTS BACK AT HIS CRITICS

At the end of a week when Leeds fans have called for his head, Ken Bates has hit back at his critics.

Bates is feeling the heat from furious supporters frustrated at the lack of information coming out of Elland Road.

A "Love Leeds, Hate Bates" website has been set up in a bid to oust him and flowers have been laid next to the Billy Bremner statue as a protest. http://www.loveleedshatebates.com/

But the bolshie chairman blasted: "What a few fans are trying to do is cause trouble. They wouldn't give a s**t if Vladimir Putin bought the club as long as it was successful."

The ex-Chelsea supremo, in Venice where he and his wife were holidaying last week, also dismissed criticism from Leeds MPs George Mudie and Colin Burgon - and Harrogate MP Phil Willis, who said: "There is a lack of transparency. We don't know anything about these oversees trusts. We don't know the extent of the debts."

But Bates, 76, who placed Leeds in administration on May 4 with debts of £35million and won the race to buy it back on July 11, claimed: "None of the MPs support Leeds." When challenged that Burgon was a long-standing fan he replied: "We checked up. His name doesn't appear on our computer. Those MPs don't represent the people of Leeds. They probably got 35 per cent of the votes.

"You just f***ing ignore them. That's what really frustrates them."

Asked about the "flower power" protest at Elland Road he said: "Have you been there? There's about 100 notices and 10 of them are 'Bates Out'.

"Do you think Man City fans give a f**k whether the former Thailand Prime Minister should be in jail for corruption or whatever? Of course they bloody don't. Do you think West Ham or Manchester United fans care whether Tevez is owned by this Iranian? The critics don't know what they're talking about.

"OK, so some Leeds fans say, 'F*** off back to Chelsea and take that little **** Wise with you'. But you always get that. It's like the National Front. You'll never stamp them out."

After taking a wage deferral the United players are to be paid for the first time in seven weeks - and Bates insisted that Dennis Wise's squad will be allowed to play in League One, despite the Football League still not allowing them to be members.

He said: "We've got 12 days to go and we're acutely aware of that. But we will be playing Tranmere Rovers on August 11. The players have been as good as gold. They have just been paid their June wages.

"We've finally drawn a line under the past. I probably will sell Leeds eventually. But when it does go it's got to go to the right people."

The League are concerned about administrators KPMG's decision to sell the club to Bates for an undisclosed sum in preference to other interested parties without the need for a Company Voluntary Arrangement.

But Bates is confident the authorities will make an exception for Leeds.

He said: "They have released some money for us. They are being as helpful as they can until the matter is legally finalised."

He still blames "past debt" - but how did Leeds come to owe £17.7m to three offshore companies, including Astor Investment Holdings, which is registered in the British Virgin Islands? And why do they owe Yorkshire Radio, which was set up by Bates, £480,000?

"I don't know who the owners of Astor are," Bates said. "We borrowed money from them.

"I don't know who the owners of f**ing Barclays Bank are. And Yorkshire Radio is an independent company. It's not owned by Leeds United."

 at the mirror peice. i thought it was an Easy10 style mock up for a moment. the guy seems to have lost grasp of reality. and he's on holiday with this ticking away?

i still reckon the current/old Leeds United will run out on the 11th, still in administration and only reserve and youth players or even possibly an XI from the crowd.

The most worrying statement in that whole garbage.

that is the most likely scenario from the fl point of view.
but it relies on having someone to fund the club. bates has said he will not fund the old leeds. a mystery man is lurking in the shadows prepared to fund it. but this involves kpmg stepping up to the plate, as administrators, but they have washed their hands of the whole sordid affair or at least they keep trying to.

beor - he has to be out of the country because of his tax evasion thing. he was in switzerland last i heard.
