As if you didn't know undercover Mod boy.

It's the undercover establishment and driven abuse, which has just made this board so unattractive.

Now, you and the gang will strive to float Mouldy to the top of publicity on here to suit your sad lives so you can abuse me directly again, that's how narcissists work don't they, mod boy?

Am I to assume you applied to be a mod but 4 weeks after the closing date, hence toys being defenestrated?

To be fair, you have brought this on your self.

By having an alternative view?

I have invited personal constant abuse to me,? this has been wound up by the dirty dozen, who has a different political viewpoint?

Sorry but you probably have not seen it all, I am happy to post all this stuff up if you really want to see it.

Don’t think you need to worry about that, just stop posting and you’ll be instantly forgotten :shrug:

Maybe, just maybe, Potter is negotiating with Chelsea to finish this season at Brighton and move to Chelsea in the Summer? Would still unsettle the team though, I reckon.

Yes. Can't see that working. I think once it's a certainty a manager is going, he's dead in the water. Being aware he'll probably go somewhere but nothing's arranged is a bit different.

Don't care if I am, I just don't like the bully factor, 20 on to 1.

With no moderation of it.

Are you condoning personal abuse dazzer? I thought you were one of the smart ones, even if you are close to a few, you really don't need to join in, do you?

So I wrote the following two posts on another forum I use and I had to dig them out because they sum up how I feel down to a tee but also because of one paragraph in particular which I’ll highlight.

The first one was in a thread where a lot of fans of Big 6 fans were moaning about the Newcastle takeover being unfair:

It is now impossible for a small club to consistently challenge for titles/European honours unless they have outside investment like City & PSG.

It’s very easy to talk about doing things the right way and how teams need to be smart but sadly we are at a point where that alone is not enough. There are examples of smaller teams who have built squads which can either challenge in their league, or in some cases could have became a threat at the top end of Europe. Without fail those clubs have been picked apart by the elite clubs and they have to start the cycle again. Some of the biggest examples are:

Southampton losing - Lallana, Mane, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Lambert, VVD

Ajax losing - de Ligt & de Jong, Ziyech, Van de Beek, Dest

Monaco losing - Mbappe, Mendy, Silva, Bakayoko, Lemar, Fabinho

There are also loads of smaller examples, Leicester lost arguably their 2 best players after winning the league, Lille have lost 4 in the last 2 seasons etc etc. These were sides who had the potential to become great teams that have could have challenged the elite teams for a generation. All of them were broken up and gone within 2 seasons. I am very aware that if we keep up our excellent start to the season and by some miracle grabbed a European spot we’d suddenly be in danger of losing a handful of key players and having to rebuild.

For all the good intentions behind FFP it also becomes part of the wider problem. I won’t stick my tinfoil hat on and claim it was on purpose, but how FFP works does allow the currently big clubs to maintain a monopoly.

- The bigger global “brand” you are, the more money you generate.

- The more money you generate, the more you can spend.

- The more money you spend, the more likely you are to have success

- The more success you have, the bigger your global brand grows

These clubs have these advantages because they were the biggest brands when the money in football exploded in the way it did and they had the foresight to market themselves to a global audience. That is to be congratulated, it’s still a marker of success and forward thinking - but that isn’t an advantage that goes away. How long do they get to use that advantage as an excuse for why their spending is different? Manchester United could get relegated this season, churn through 10 managers in 5 seasons in the Championship and still be able to pull in more money through sponsorship than Burnley, or Brighton or Watford if they floated between 10th and 17th in the Prem. I don’t think big clubs fans always understand just how much of a huge advantage that gives them, but football has never been a level playing field in my lifetime.

Are clubs like Brentford and Brighton supposed to forever dream of maybe winning a cup once as long as our scouting system continues to beat the odds and continue to find unproven youngsters and unheard of prospects whilst a small handful of clubs can “fail” by coming 5th and then throw £50m at one of our key players because they were good 20+ years ago and we weren’t?

I fully understand the anger being the Saudis from a moralistic standpoint, but the worry they’ll distort money in football is; imo, laughable. The games gone, it’s a race to the bottom when everything implodes and we start again. Newcastle are just adding accelerant to the fire.

And then when a Liverpool fan said that they’d managed to do it the right way when they got promoted to the Premier League, and that winning the Premier League shouldn’t be easy:

Sorry but honestly this is absolute waffle mate. I posted my thoughts on this argument again so I’ll just quote the post

Liverpool built themselves up from nothing to massive in an age where it was possible, it deserves celebrating but it doesn’t change the fact it’s impossible to do now. Not difficult, impossible. No team will ever be able to build themselves from second tier to consistent European honours again. Ever. Trying to compare the two situations is misinformed at best and wilfully dishonest at worst.

There are dozens of clubs being ran extremely well who have built themselves up from the lower leagues, but poorly ran big clubs can still come in and pick them dry whenever they want. Arsenal have been a shitshow for a decade and bought White. United are ran awfully but could take Bissouma/Lamptey/Potter if they decided they want them. The money is too far imbedded in the game for being “sensible” to be enough.

Liverpool may spend within their means compared to the other big clubs, but you still blow every other club out of the water because you were a big name when the Premier League became global. The fact big club fans can’t wrap their head around it is wilful ignorance IMO.

Those posts were from October and November 2021.

The bolded paragraph has came true and we didn’t even get European football as compensation.

It’s not fair. I know life isn’t fair, but it doesn’t make it easier to swallow. We’ve done almost everything right. We’ve given a manager time, we’ve recruited smartly, we’ve had contingency plans in place, we’ve brought through youth, we’ve played football the right way and it’s all for f*cking nothing because Chelsea spent £220,000,000 and then lost 3 games in a row.

Since the 00/01 season there are more teams that have played in the Premier League & The Fourth Division than have finished in the Top 4. That right there show how broken the whole thing is. It’s the antithesis of sport and it’s never going to get better because stupid dickheads see that there’s only 6 teams that win anything and decide to support one of them because their life is so void of achievement that they need to sit down a Green King pub watching “their” team on the telly and giving stick to their scouse mate who was actually born in Billingshurst just to feel some sense of achievement. The whole situation is a f*cking train wreck and I can’t even walk away fully because I’m cursed to give a shit about this team until my dying breath. F*ck of football.

So neither team would have a manager in the dug out over the two games vs Chelsea?!

Great post(s) that sums up the unfortunate reality faced by the other 86 league clubs.

What really pissed me off is “Chelsea fans” I work with asking me what Potters like?

I’ve said to them surely if you follow football you’d already know.

They only talk about Chelsea when playing, United, City Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool, it’s a real pet hate of mine.

I suppose it’s an upward trend of when asked who I suspect I get “why, what have they won”

****ing *****

Ever since I was little. While watching Ritchie Barker score at Gillingham, or when I first watched a game at the withdean, the dream was to make it to the top. Isn't that the entire point of sport, to try to be the best? To win? I always hoped that my little team would make it to the premier league and one day maybe win it. But its impossible. I loved my trips to the withdean as it felt like a home to me. But I always hoped for better. Now that we have better, it seems so pointless.

Ok, well there’s where we differ. For me it was always about the day out and cheering on the team I have supported since I was a boy. I was there through mundane seasons in Div 3 and at the bottom of Div 4 and didn’t bail out then so it would feel a little daft doing so now when in 4th place in the top division. Football support is unconditional. If it isn’t then you are bound to become disillusioned some time.

From The Guardian…

Poor Brighton. You’re one of the very few clubs not owned by a hedge fund, a public investment fund, a sheikh, an oligarch or a tax exile. You’re owned by a local boy made good, a childhood fan. You graft for years. You put plans in place. You establish an astute recruitment department. You find an innovative and understated manager who fits your model. You impress but for one thing: you don’t convert your chances. Then suddenly you crack it. You win at Old Trafford for the first time in your history. You’re compact and well-organised. You put five past Leicester. You sit fourth in the table. You’re two points off the top. You know it probably won’t happen, but this is a strange season. The calendar is absurdly compressed. You’re not involved in European competition. Not that many of your players will be involved in the World Cup that will interrupt the season. It’s not likely but maybe … maybe there’s a chance of reaching the Europa League, the Champions League, perhaps even a tiny possibility of repeating the glorious freak of Leicester …

Blam!

Down comes the meaty fist of capital. Never bother dreaming.

When you get found out, it's okay you know.

Find someone else to follow around the board. Enjoy that sad life you lead.
