Most that I have paid is to see Rammstein at the Ricoh in June which is the wrong side of £100. But I've paid that to see NFL and the Albion at Villa so seems OK. I looked at Dave Gilmour resale prices at the Albert Hall when they were £500 and was very tempted so that must be in my region of most that I would pay.
That's the definition of 'optimism' right there.
I also did this in the late 70s and early 80s, saw many bands for a few pounds maximum. As I was at school and had a part time job I think the tickets to see the bands i liked were probably very good value at the time.
I also did see some bands for free, myself and some friends would ' help ' the roadies in the afternoon and blag getting on the guest list. Sometimes we would meet the bands in the afternoon and watch the sound check and ask for autographs, occasionally we would get free tickets by simply asking the band, sort of thing we got away with being aged 14.
I did see The Who for free at the Brighton Centre, a friends dad knew someone that worked there and got free tickets
After paying next to nothing to see so many bands I wouldn't pay hundreds now to see the likes of Phil Collins wheeled out.
Didn't Phil Collins used to rack up at the Goldstone in the eighties? Bet he didn't pay.

Most I've ever paid was a ton to see the Stones at Hyde Park. I took a deep breath when handing over the money. No regrets, despite their age they were fantastic that night. Saw them again in Berlin, 2018 and paid about 95 euro. Again worth it although having to endure The Kooks as support was a painful experience. I can't think of anyone I'd pay insane amounts to see. 15 or so euro when the UK Subs or The Test Tube babies are in town is my going rate. Neil Young played nearby last Summer with tickets at 68 euro which wasn't too shabby. As I knew the spot where to get a free view into the amphitheatre, I ponced a freebie. 
I think you’re thinking of Clive Walker, he didn’t pay because he was playing.

Found a ticket stub for pink Floyd at Earl’s Court the other day from 1994 , they were good seats if I remember and were £22.

The price of tickets for successful bands is going up steadily but the biggest change I’ve seen in recent years is to heritage acts and the various packages you can now buy. I saw The Rolling Stones in Hamburg about 10 or so years ago and the pricing was simple...70 euros for pitch seats, and 70 and lower for seats in the stands. Organising myself for when the tickets went on sale meant I was seated row 6 for 70 euros. Fast forward to a few years back and theres now various packages and those same seats were in the “golden ring” and cost 900. Metallica had numerous, cornily named, packages ranging from a couple of hundred to thousands to meet the band on their last stadium trek. As a teen I payed £5 to see Metallica at Hammersmith and bumped into Lars for free. In fact, you name any 80s rock/metal band (I’m sure [MENTION=268]Superphil[/MENTION] can ) and I will have seen them for a fiver or less.
Some know that music is my primary hobby and i have been going to gigs since I was 15; I now go to more gigs than ever...around 30 a year. These typically range from 15-20 euros for small, new and/or niche stuff to 70-80 for current and known acts. I’m happy to splash out if I need to but that 900 Stones ticket was the first time in my life I ever denied myself a gig due to cost.
Anyway, here’s to music!

Rolling Stones were/are far better.

I saw them at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury in 1968/9. We convinced a young University graduate who was on some sort of work experience as a temporary teacher to take about 5 six formers on a Cultural outing! No idea of the ticket cost but I can’t imagine it was more than 5 shillings. Chuffed to have that as my first ever paid concert but I had seen Blue Cheer in Nijmegan at a free concert in a town square the previous summer.. They had the reputation of being the world’s loudest band at the time

£55 for Gorillaz was the most I have paid, and it pained me to do that. I justified it on the basis of how many people they had on stage with them (Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, Bobby Womack, De la Soul amongst others).
I would struggle to justify paying more than this. Most of the gigs I see are under £20.
