What is the main problem with our side?

This is true. I think it stopped when Savage arrived, and if he did one thing well, it was sitting back and taking the ball from the back four. I think some of the players will have learned a lot from him, even if on the pitch he was slightly disappointing.

Yeah true, don't get me wrong I love Kuipers, he is just frustrating sometimes.

I agree with your additional points, that has been blatantly obvious in almost every game I've attended this season.

And, yes, Elphick was average at the beginning of the season. Maybe due to the fact he is young and was previously used to playing alongside Butters or Lynch, and did not know Hawkins' game. Although if that were true I would raise questions over the coaching. He is playing much better now though.

TE didn't have a good game today either imo; he was turned a couple of times and allowed their player to get on the wrong side of him on 3-4 occasions that I noticed. Better performance than El Abd I grant you but not faultless by any means.

coaching wasn't really a problem last season - with regards to the defence apart from Joel being in Nottingham the defence is the same and they played well last season - perhaps it is the coaching they are missing from Wilkins and Chapman

Strange how you only appear on threads which are negative-you were noticeable by your absence when we were playing better and beating the likes of Man City, Leicester and Millwall.

The problem can be summed up in one word. Inconsitency.

Nail on head

When they all click we look one of the better sides in the league but that has not happened often enough and the players have to shoulder some of that criticism as well as the manager

The main problem with our side is the non league backroom that we have in place, Dick Knight HAS to address this now before its too late we ,need a clear out and some new profesional coaches put in place.

I'd say the main problem is lack of team spirit. The players rarely seem up for it, unless they're clear-cut underdogs, like against Man City, Leicester and Millwall. They seem to have trouble motivating themselves for the bread and butter games.

A very inconsistent midfield ,different players ,different positions ,and different players in different positions every week, how are they supposed to gel and form an understanding, short term loanees will not resolve this. MA should know his best formation by now, injuries aside and stick to it.:albion2:

I think that's the nub of it. It also explains the comments about it looking like there is no overall game plan.

Some of this is down to injuries, which can't be helped, but there does also seem to be an awful lot of tinkering as though Mickey isn't yet sure what his best team should be.

A lot of us have been saying this for a while-it's something that needs to be addressed and as quickly as possible.

This was made doubly clear to me watching what was happening during half-time against Derby. Our subs were having a haphazard kick about (as they have done for years). The Derby players were going through a structured coaching session for the whole 15 minutes and looked like they had professionals running the session. They were focused on what they were doing whilst our lot were looking like a bunch of kids at the park, kicking the ball all over the place while waiting for the rest of the lads to turn up to make sides.

And yes, it was exactly the same when Wilkins was in charge.

We always look better against the better sides because they play football themselves and do not close us down so quickly, allowing us to play. When we play a so called poorer team they are quckly into tackles and hassle all over he pitch.

Unfortunately in this division you either have to be very good or be prepared to battle for every ball to have a chance of promotion, and we have neither attribute.
