I can remember being left in awe after witnessing a Mark Lawrenson tackle in his first match for us

First name that came to my mind. Lawrenson used to slide tackle opponents, get up and come away with the ball. He then usually went striding forward, waltzing past another couple of players before finding a well positioned teammate...

Stoke would have gone level on points with us if they had won.... and they were relegated.
Legally it was a tackle as the ref didn't give them a second penalty.

Yes, just as well it happened 1 season before VAR.

I like the fact that Eric was straight back on his feet again. No pathetic diving despite a tackle that could get you a suspended sentence if it had gone to court.

That looked like it was going to be a bloody typical end to a game we had absolutely bossed until Shakiri equalised.

Yes me and Les Biehn watched that game together. He was faster making a sliding tackle than he was on his feet that day.
