What is the BEST Albion own goal you've ever seen?

It was a diving header, it was Terry Connor and it was against Norwich; but it was Carrow Road and it was 0-3. :(

I'm not going to FALL OUT with you SIM, but the one I'm thinking of, WAS at the Goldstone, unless I'm going MAD. Ball came in from the left, possibly from a corner, full length diving header, into the bottom left hand corner.

Perhaps you can pick the bones out of this in order to settle it.

Just because the game I'm thinking of doesn't seem to have EXISTED, is no kind of proof at all.

Steve Gatting lobbing John Keely at West Ham when we were winning 1-0 and cruising. Ended up losing 2-1 with Julian Dicks scoring the winner.

I remember that one. Gatting lobbed Keeley from the halfway line. I don't know what he was trying to do.

Charlie Oatway's own goal at Reading in 2005 was unfortunate, though it gave Reading's announcer a chance to show off his razor-sharp wit. "And Reading's first goal of the afternoon is scored by...Brighton and Hove Albion."

The only game my Mum ever went to was at Aldershot in March 1975.
Steve Piper chipped Peter Grummit when under absolutely no pressure whatsoever, from near the half way line. Well that's how it seemed at the time.
"I can't understand why you go every week" she said.
She still says the same thing. I've been trying to think up a witty off the cuff response for over thirty years.

That really was a beauty, 30 yards from goal, no pressure, so he goes and launches a massive lob right over Keeley straight into the net.

For lifespan reasons I've admittedly only been following the Albion for a relatively short period of time, but anyone who doesn't rate Glen Thomas's effort as the finest Albion own-goal ever must be slightly mad. Those lobs sound like a gas and all, but the way Glen unexpectedly smashed the ball into the net, leaving the keeper looking like a cat who'd been startled from a beautiful dream with a sudden slap, made it worthy of being the first thing most of us saw after getting into the ground several minutes late at the behest of her majesty's finest.

Also, most of those other hapless unfortunates redeemed themselves and even reached legendary status in some cases, or at least had the chance to. Glen was banished, his name surely never uttered again. He was like a reverse Emeka Ifejiagwa.
