Most football fans reckon they have a pretty good knowledge of the game as most fans have kicked a ball about and watched football live and on the tv. We don't hesitate to slag off former professionals acting as pundits on the industry that employed them for many years. We criticise our team and manager during a game but we have no idea of the tactics and game-plan that has been worked hard on during the week. We are paying customers in an industry that we all think we know how it works but in truth most of us haven't really got a clue. We wing it most of the time, using phrases and expressions that the pro's use, without really grasping the true meaning. How many of us could dip into a minor league game and spot real potential. Why do Football clubs only use scouts who have played the game to a decent level. Why? Because they know what they are looking for and understand the game. Football generates opinion and everyone is entitled to one but you are attending a football match to be entertained and hopefully see your side win. A lot of fans now think it is obligatory to deliver an expert critique on the game as soon as it is over. Some fans think they know better than the manager. Well lets see them have a go.
I work in a particular industry and consider that I have a decent knowledge of that industry. I wouldn't presume to pass expert opinion on an industry that I don't work in and know little about. Yet, I am as guilty as the next man in chuntering on about every facet of football as if I am a world expert.
The truth is most of us are kidding ourselves. We don't really know that much about Professional football. You can go to the cinema twice a week but it doesn't make you an expert on the film industry.
BHA fans can slag off certain players but some of them wouldn't know a good player from a dung-beetle.
Leave it to the experts and if they can't help, ask me.

An excellent post - perhaps Bozza could arrange for this to be automatically bounced at least once a week !

With CMS and Hoskins? Around here all you seem to get is people slagging them off. Sure, CMS misses a few goals but he has still scored a considerable amount this season. Hoskins is trying and every time he has come on now he has put in 110% effort. He wanted to stay with Brighton and he is actually pretty good. It's lucky player's don't read most of the crap you lot say on here.

We've not seen nearly enough of Hoskins to make a valid judgement call. CMS on the other hand...
