What I'll be watching tonight.......

Great British Journeys
Tue 18 Sep, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Daniel Defoe's Tour Through the Whole Island of Great Britain:

Daniel Defoe was 64 when his Tour appeared. He'd survived the Great Fire of London, the Battle of Sedgemoor, bankruptcy and imprisonment, and he'd written one of the great novels of the English language, Robinson Crusoe. He'd also travelled the country, firstly as a secret agent, then as a merchant and journalist, and the tour reflects his great obsession - money, and the making of it through trade.

Starting from London, like Defoe, Nicholas Crane journeys over the marshes of malaria-ridden Essex and the storm-swept Suffolk coast to the heart of East Anglian trade in the 18th century - Norwich.
