Not Luton! Thank God
We've been running our own Xmas party for the last 15 years. Get a licence for the canteen and set the bar prices at just enough to make enough profit to cover food and entertainment.

Yes we get £20 allowance so long as you have your Christmas do with other work colleagues. As I work in a huge office with just me and the security guard, it's going to be fun, fun, fun. ( the sec guard doesn't count as work colleague btw)

It's a great shame our company do was cancelled...it was always a great night, but the miseries who didn't want to socialise got it cancelled.

We get £30 a head which isn't bad, covers a nice 3 course meal and a couple of drinks of a lunch time. We used to have a big xmas do at the Grand each year but that stopped about 10 years ago.

Ours is in Exeter, fair enough, that's where we're based, hotel do, and accommodation for those of us traveling from afar. But it's on the 22nd of December, don't they know its the football season?

We used to have a do every year, paid for and including taxis but some of our miserable buggers said they didn't want it anymore.

Now they do us a hamper, which is surprisingly good.

We are having a christmas/leaving party :( 80/90 of us being made redundant in Jan/Feb.

But on a happy note, I will be giving the family a great christmas this year : )

Our firm seems (from this thread) to be one of the few that still organises a nice meal. We go to a local restaurant about 1:30pm on a workday (Friday 14th this year), work pay for all food and drinks (so we have a sweepstake as to which member of staff will try to take advantage a bit too much and be pissed before the starters arrive) then we get the rest of the afternoon off so leave the restaurant about 4:30pm and the 'younger' crowd (of which I'm thankfully still classified as a part) head to the nearest pub to carry on the drinking.

About 4 years ago it was on a Tuesday and 2 people didn't make it in for work the next day due to 'illness'. It's not been mid-week again since.
