What if Poyet's next striker turned out to be....

....Andy Johnson?

Should add that I've got no reason whatsoever for suspecting it would be, nor any mysterious sources, it's purely that I noticed West Ham were being linked to him, which suggests Fulham are getting rid. There is absolutely NOTHING to link us to him at this stage, please note.

Just wondered what people would think if he did pitch up at the Amex. From both a form/ability perspective, and because of his dirty past. And what Palace fans would think

The Palace connections wouldn't bother me, if he was able to do the business for us. Would have my doubts though - he's been injury-prone, and his goals tally for Fulham has been pretty modest and would be even more modest but for the setups from the mighty Bobbster.

Add to that likely wages and I think it adds up to: thanks, but no.

Using the NSC logic "played well against us, sign him up" I say take him

We also need someone to win penalties and free kicks around the box, as Murray has left us

Oooh yes, nobody at this level eats the turf quite so frequently or professionally as Mr Johnson.

id have doubts about his injury record, but if he was fit then he'd be a great signing. anybody who says otherwise and bases it on the fact he played for palace is a total MUG

not sure that we really need another striker though with only two fit centre backs currently

Given that he's not linked with a move here:
He was very over-rated, had absolutely no talent, and still to this day smells of Selhurst.
I will re-evaluate if we sign him.

Sorry , but I still f***ing HATE the bastard and it would make me uneasy to support him.

I know this means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things mind.

AJ can take them too so certainly worth thinking about although I would worry about him maintaining fitness.
If he was available perhaps but he wouldn't come cheap and surely even TB's pit has to have a bottom with KLL/Lansbury/Woodgate still to pay for? :D

a goal every other game in the top two divisions with palace suggests that he does have some talent

i was going to say that he must be good as he has eight england caps, then i realised that even francis jeffers has an england cap

Funny you should say this, i have been thinking the same thing since the Ambrose thread the other day :(

Totally agree, I said it about Ambrose and i will say it about Johnson
Hes CRAP!!! However if he were to sign for us....

Im sure once he's been through the new chemical wash at the Amex, to rid new players of any ex-Palace impurities, he'd be fine.

If he scores for us the announcer could shout out "ANDY" and the we could all shout "JOHNSON". This wouldn't make us look a bunch cunts in anyway whatsoever.

Especially if a goal turned out to have been disallowed and the announcer hadn't spotted it. I mean, how STUPID would that make you look?

Oh I say! Old-school, (oft-seen as by non-pwoppa footy folk) irrational hatred of a fatally-tainted player.

Young Mr B: I salute you. x x

I would rather we signed his strike partner. I think a Mackail-Smith/Zamora frontline would destroy the championship!
