Mostly down to the fact you're in a league where there are no 100 percent guarenteed winners in games, every team has an equal chance of beating the other. This isn't like League 1 where there's a huge skill gap between some teams, you'l generally see a lot of games that make no sense where the team in 23rd place beats the team in 1st, or 2nd, etc and so forth.

o i felt that from day one...even the so called weaker teams have championship experience and a certain nous...nope to me u have to fight for every point in this league...but then thats what for me gives it its charm...one game at a time an old cliche..but so true

This! If the opposition push high up and press, we can't pass around the back. At the moment no plan B. We need to learn to pass through teams more as well.

Exactly and what's worried me tonight was even Watford have worked out to do it.

We have gone downhill since Vicente arrived. I'm not saying it's down to him but that's where our season started going downhill. If we don't get 3 points on Sunday against Barnsley then we are well and truely in the relegation mix. We are just not very good.

Think back to cardiff where we won 3-1 comfortably we've had no players leave and only improvments on the team why are we doing so badly ffs:shootself

Because no one has the guts to take a shot from outsde of th box, they all think that pretty passing on its own is enough.

I think its quite simple actually.

We found out what we were lacking a few weeks ago, but you can't change that overnight, you need to bring certain types of players in.

The problem has been exasperated tonight by the loss of Dicker and Bridcutt, our two ball playing midfielders who dictate how we play.

So yeah, it was rubbish, we need players back from injury and we need some new players too. No need to panic though, Gus knows what to do.

but does he though when ever we lose we all say gus knows what he's doing but at the moment I think with bridcutt and dicker out we will need a hell of a kick up the arse to keep playing 'tika taka' football Please note I am very and what I write could be absoloute diahreahea

What does this actually mean? Seems like a bit of a parrot-phrase at the moment e.g. lots repeating it, but how, what, where, when, why etc? Sorry, it's just it sounds like a bit of a bandwaggon soundbite to me.

Agree with this completely.

Here
See these quotes from a Watford player after the game:

""We've done our homework on Brighton all week and we knew all about the shape they like to play."

"The gaffer said to press them as high and as hard as we can, it worked tonight."

Proof I think that unfortunately most of the comments on this thread are correct. This is now the uni-approach, initiated by Leeds, that all teams have been, and will continue to be, using against us. Add to this the fact that nearly all the teams in this division possess at least half a dozen players who are bigger, stronger and taller than the majority of our players and for me its difficult to see where the next win is going to come from (and don't think Barnsley - they are managed by Keith Hill and his Rochdale team also knew how to play us last year). Given the players we have and Gus's reluctance to change our playing style our only chance of avoiding a very difficult relegation battle (and Doncaster have been importing big physical players like its going out of fashion recently) is by increasing the pace with which we play our passing game. This is made more difficult by the fact that our best passing players do not seem to be up to the physical demands of this division. The teams beneath us are currently massing points behind us and while its true that two wins would see us into the playoff positions, equally two more defeats could well see us fourth from bottom. I am very very worried indeed.

Worthing
Disagree what the Watford player said as we did not try and play football tonight, quite simply appalling. We have players who are not good enough at this level, and Gus thinks Billy Paynter is te answer, then I am worried.

Think we need to our better players back fit and quick and play the football we know we can and we will be ok. Not try and completely change what we have been successfully doing for the past 2 years.

Agreed. The bloke next to me kept on about it. Obviously something he heard someone on TV say about Sven in 2006 and thought it sounded good. But no relevance to us at all as far as I can tell, especially as we were playing longer balls to a big man last night which would be 'plan b' in fact. And exactly what most of the moaners wanted. Perhaps we can just go back to the passing game now and hope we get a lucky break for a change to get things going again.

Or you could say when Harley arrived.... he's certainly had more game time.
