I've found that some people tend to stand just to annoy stewards who tell them to sit.

maybe a little less authority and the fans will sit down anyway.

FFS, I can't believe we are having this thread!!!!
I was as surprised as everyone around me, that Krispies, was thrown out.
The stewarding (!) is becoming an absolute joke. I'm not in Hblock, but have a very good view of what goes on.

My first question was, why didn't they show the same sort of 'pathetic-ness' against Leeds?
Its almost as if some sad f++k, decided that this a 'quiet' match, lets show them our 'muscle'.
Its pathetic, they just love their intercoms. I heard one of them talking on his at H/T. I think he thought he was in 'Spooks'.

I fear Falmer will be worse.

Yesterday was a joke.
I sat just to the left of H Block with 3 mates who are not regulars. The stand was empty and the singers could not of numbered more than 100 or so but they were surrounded by stewards. They were the only Albion fans in the ground making a noise throughout the game,it was pissing down with rain and the football was shit but still they shouted.
My friends have said they will not return to the Withdean even though we won and the tickets were reduced, the club have really got to look at this situation if they want to create an atmosphere and also to put bums on seats.

if my fading memory serves me correctly there were a few ask the club questions on stewarding last week, perhaps at the pre match briefing the guys and gals that are employed were given a new brief that states stewarding should be the same for home and away fans in cases of breaches of the clubs crowd control rules, picking the rushden game to implement a bit of look we are doing our job both ends was a perfect opportunity as the away attendence was quite low,it will be interesting in the weeks to come to see if this same rule for all will be continued seeing as charlton will no doubt have a full allocation. The stewards right or wrong are being payed to do a job they have been given the job description so i guess they are doing nothing only than what they are told to do. ive been slung out this season for smoking, fair cop i knew the law i broke it and payed the price, the law is dont stand so i guess if you stand you run the risk of ejection.

I fully understand what your saying but there were over 5 thousand empty seats yesterday.I took 3 floaters with me yasterday who will not return because of the stewarding,we need to attract fans not turn them away.

sadly stewarding seems to have taken center stage since the advent of all seater stadiums,in a strange way the powers that be have created a problem all of its own in the name of safety,in the days of terracing i truly can not recall having any problems at all with stewards, mainly i guess because we were all merrily jumping up and down without having our artificial limbs pulled off.

in a ideal world the paying punter should have a choice, stand or sit then there is no need for 20 stewards stewarding a small portion of the crowd.

I've never got my head around the concept of a separate 'singing' section.

It's not as though any away sections when Brighton are on the road have separate singing sections, and look how much racket everyone creates.

Stewards = shit
H block = full of dicks

same old story every week.

"Krispies" throwing his toys out of his pram yesterday was f***ing pathetic - you're not allowed to stand up at grounds anymore, get used to it.

Good grief.

51,000+ posts between you and neither of you have a fvcking clue - you should try going to a fvcking game instead of wanking over a keyboard FFS!!!

Sorry, why don't I have a clue?

Because I think most (although not all) of the people in H block are unfunny, annoying dicks who don't understand the concept of all-seater stadium legislation banning standing up, and who only bother doing their "singing section" job when they are pathetically berating stewards and singing absolute drivel to away supporters?

Oh, and I've yet to miss a home game this season in all competitions, and have done most of the aways including Carlisle.

I really feel several fans need to get over the fact that standing at grounds is unlikely ever to happen again due to previous very bad situations.

Every now and then we have stupid questions about Falmer and a standing area which will not happen.

Seating in the UK is here to stay and if you don't like it move to Germany or where ever.

bet you're a right laugh on away days

That's the thing isn't it?

All the dins going "I was at Southampton and I stood for 90 minutes bla de f***ing bla" - there was one bloke still banging on about it at half time. Get a life.

Yes, it is NICE when they let you stand, but generally it is partially because there are 50 times more people than the 20 goons in H block they tell to sit down. Anyway, it's still against the law, so make the most of it when you get leniant stewards who let you get away with it.

Sadly, our stewards aren't leniant, and stick to the rulebook.

Deal with it

Having said all that, I do have some issues with the stewards, they frankly lack any common sense (just like half the fruitcakes in H block) which causes half the problems.

Well done - you are clearly an uber-fan!!

There are too many pricks who are only to f***ing happy to slate other fans -I hold no candle for Krispies and his pals at all but at least he tries in his own little way - I wonder whether moaners like you really bother??!!

wrong, I've been to several FC United Of Manchester matches home and away and 'legally' stood at all of them. The interesting bit is they play their home matches at Gigg Lane in front of a bigger average than Bury, however the Bury fans the following week have to sit despite being in the same stand, are standing league fans more of a menace to society than non league fans?

What's your point?

There's nothing wrong with encouraging the team, but 14/60 year olds singing "come and join us over here" to a bunch of 30 away supporters? *Cringe*

If they sung about the team, rather than berating the stewards who follow the rules, then there wouldn't be anything to complain about.

Thanks Mr Pedantic.

Interesting issue though - why are rules made against the league being participated in, rather than the capacity?

Not often there is a WW posts that I agree with, but having experienced the antics in H block I'd have to agree.

Not sure the Stewards / Club are dealing with it in the right way, but there used to be some right idiots in there who would do all they could to attract Stewards attention and then complain when they got it.

Personally I do what they did at school and simply move the obvious offenders to other parts of the ground.

Sod the "singing section" whatever that is, it's simply wastes the time of the club employees and the police (when they are in the ground).
