What happened in Rome?

Just said on Five Live that referee Anders Frisk (name ring a bell?) was hit by a missile from the crowd as he left the field at half-time after sending off a Roma player. The restart was delayed by forty minutes before the decision was made to abandon the game.

Blood pouring down his face, apparently.

Roma should be banned from the tournament - simple as.

If they're not it will set a precident of:

"Oh, we're losing, let's pelt the ref until the game's abandoned"

Galatasary or Fenerbache away, anyone ???

I sincerely hope UEFA ban Roma for a minimum of 3 years - somehow I doubt it though as the status of Cameroon's new shirt is normally more important.

Sky appear to have a shot of a bearded guy throwing something and have just said that it definitely came from the VIP area.

Surely anyone's shirt is only important if they take it off or raise it as part of a goal celebration

from the bbc

Roma's Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev was abandoned at half-time after referee Anders Frisk was struck by an object thrown from the crowd.

As Frisk walked off at the interval he was hit near the tunnel, the Swede left with blood dripping from his head.

Just after blowing for half-time with Kiev leading 1-0, Frisk had sent off Roma defender Philippe Mexes after he petulantly kicked Maris Verpakovskis.

"We deplore what has happened," said Uefa spokesman William Gaillard.

The Uefa spokesman added: "We will wait for the match delegate's report as well as the referee's own report of the incident.

"This is the first time in many years that a European match has been stopped for such an incident - sometimes there have been electrical failures with floodlights of course, but this is something far worse."

It is not the first time Roma have been in trouble with Roma.

Two years ago Roma and Turkish side Galatasaray were involved in a mass brawl involving players, officials and riot police at the end of a Champions League game in Rome.

Frisk also refereed that game.

After Roma appealed, Uefa reduced some of the punishments it handed out to the Italian club.

Roma captain Francesco Totti had his suspension reduced from three matches to two, while Brazilian midfielder Francisco Lima's three-match ban was cut to one.

Uefa also withdrew its decision to ban Roma from the Olympic stadium for one match, instead fining the Italian club £221,000.

Last season Roma and Lazio fans also clashed with police outside the Olympic Stadium after the city derby was suspended by a false rumour that a child had been killed by a police car.

"It is not the first time Roma have been in trouble with Roma." ???

Exactly! Italians have never stopped being thugs and yet Europe turn a blind eye.

Richard Keys saying that UEFA will have to decide whether the game should be awarded to Kiev kinda sums it up. If that had been Stamford Bridge all English clubs sides and the National team would be sat at home on European nights for the next 5 years.

But did anyone see why the game was abandoned?

Because Frisk decided that the 4th official wasn't sufficiently experienced to ref the game !!!!

So UEFA, why the fcuk was he the 4th official??
