Old sentimental films go best for me with the seasonal feeling of a full stomach and a pleasantly blurry head:
Like:
Mrs Miniver
Genevieve
Miracle on 34st (original version)

Alternatively, blood soaked gangster epics help me to manage the emotions of being cooped up with relatives for 3 days
Goodfellas
Godfather 2
Reservoir Dogs
Not really primetime family viewing though

If it is to be Bond, it must be any Sean Connery or
'On her Majesty's Secret Service'.

Not checked out all that's on over the festive period this year but have noticed Signs is on (good film) and The American President which I've not seen but is scripted by Aaron Sorkin who I think is great.
