What film is this?

I'm sure that the film-literate NSCers will spot it in no time: there was a French film on BBC4 a few months back which was made, at a guess, in the late 1990s and featured a psychopathic (Italian?) bloke who kept kidnapping and shooting people while also hiding this from a young girl he was seeing, all set in mountainous countryside somewhere. Towards the end, he escaped into Switzerland where he hijacked a car with an attractive older woman in it and drove it through police roadblocks etc. Exciting though all this was, I then fell fast asleep before seeing either what happened or what the film was called. Help me NSC, you're my only hope.

Sounds like Leon. Luc Beeson, starring Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman.

Well apart from the ending.

What are you on about Leslilein - I've seen Leon and it's set in NY. I think Besson said that was the only way to stop the Americans from remaking it.

Nah, this wasn't a comedy, more a tense low-budget thriller - it always seemed to be raining. The bloke was a nutter.
