What exactly did Tanno do?

Clearly employed to be Gus' friend. Spends ages scribbling notes and looking thoughtful. Agrees with everything that Gus says and does. Has no effect on any game and clearly totally agrees with Gus' masterplan, whether its working or not.
Feels he has to justify his existence by berating any official close at hand. Clearly no tactical genius and clearly no deep thinker.
Lap dog. Complete and utter waste of space, time and money.
Apart from that, seems a pretty decent sort.

Is that your general view on all assistant managers?

And you are basing all this on what?

Absolutely nothing, basically.

I'm as disappointed as anyone with the situation the club finds itself in - but the assassination of Poyet, Taricco (and soon no doubt the semi-literate Oatway too) by a lot of people who sang their praises for the past three and half years is nonsensical. We have enjoyed an amazing time playing wonderful football, with (granted) a few occasions when all of us tactical geniuses could see a better way to solve a problem in a match, but for the most part we have watched with real pleasure as Brighton played with a continental style envied everywhere - also belying the myth that English clubs can't play like that "because of the climate".

Now though - let's torch their houses and hang them from trees.......... sitting there in his naff puffa jacket saying nothing indeed...... who did he think he was ?

And of course you would know of the input Tanno has on the training ground and the work he does analysing performance. Some people make me laugh, just hope we dont get relegated like wolves and pompey. At least some fans would get there comeuppance desperately wanting the best manager we have in years out. Some fans should be careful what they ask for.

Thats me, sadly. Sticking the knife in without a moments hesitation. Seriously though, Taricco is completely overshadowed by the massive ego of Gus. Therefore a lot of fans haven't a clue what he contributes. We are told he is the defensive coach but thats it.
I've been questioning what he does from day one not jumping on the bandwagon recently.

So you've been sounding stupid from day one rather than just lately. Well done for admitting it.

No, I don't know his input on the training ground or his analysis but judging from some of the players comments it left a bit to be desired.
How do you know that the next manager along won't be better than Poyet? The way some people talk makes me think whether they've studied the history of football at all and whether they appreciate that, like most things in life, you need a fairly lengthy apprenticeship before you are even close to being the finished article. Gus has been a manager for three and a half years, outside the top flight, with one divisional title. Yet, he is being talked about as irreplaceable. He is a novice who makes his fair share of mistakes and at the moment does not possess the skill sets to take us any higher.
His stock is still very high in the media and now is the time for him to get a job in the Prem. This may be the best chance he gets and he intends to grab it now.

Thanks, I will treasure that comment.
I guess you are a fully paid up member of the ' Gus Poyet is the greatest thing since sliced bread and he is irreplaceable ' appreciation society. Unwilling and unprepared to consider that there might actually be someone better out there to take us forward.

We are told he is the defensive coach but thats it.

Even if that is was his only job, surely you have to accept that he has done it well? As Barrel of Fun says: 135 goals conceded in the last 138 league games is a very impressive record.

Right here, right now
Tanno is to Gus what Phil Neal was to Graham Turner.

Yes Boss.

We conceded 135 goals in the last three league campaigns (138 games). That's less than one a game. He was clearly doing something right.

Defence can't be seriously questioned, except for Liverpool away and West Ham away last year, that drags the average down, our real problem ahs been scoring goals. This inability to to score against all typs of opposition has been below par, first CMS blamed and questions now asked of Leo. Its not the defence we need to question, its our route to goal. I was under inspired by the Gus team set up and had aired my views on here with regard to that, but he is/was the man in the hot seat and answerable to the clubs board and fans and we don't know what pressure or restrictions he operated under, so the verbal assassination of him and his immediate team is uncalled for and unpleasant. If Gus used us a stepping stone thats ok for me, because the club used him for exactly the same motive.

So what did some of the players say
