I think most of the Palace fans talk shite, but that's because they're Palace fans. There are some strange ones on here but what actual harm are they doing? We have plenty of idiots of our own are we going to ban them too?

loz is a great example of a Palace fan who posts on here, fights his corner but generally talks sense. Red'n'blue seems a decent Palace fan as well (as far as that oxymoron can be stretched).
Despite his (completely laughable) holier than thou stuff on this thread, Swills is not. His posts about this subject are Trumpesque in their blatant hypocrisy, as you've pointed out.
It should be simple to understand that if you come on to a rival's forum and start spouting crap, trying (and failing) to be a smartarse and engaging in arguments then you're going to get some grief back.
The thread is about the massive free rein we give to Palace goons at present. Not about a Palace fan crying because he can't post what he likes on here without being rightly called a ****. But self awareness isn't generally their strongest point.
Just because you think something is bullshit, does not necessarily mean it is. The gist of your post is, if you disagree with us be abused or leave. Luckily not all Brighton fans are the same.

One of the best things about being a fan is chatting to other fans from all over the place. Whenever I started a job, it was always football that broke the ice and got me new friends. So I think they should be allowed to post. Unfortunately, some fans from every club seem to revel in the "hurting the enemy at every opportunity" approach, which I find very sad. People can't chose where they were born, and being born close to Brighton does not necessarily make you a good person.

The thread starter stated away fans then it became palace fans by the end of the post . Better ?
It's utterly tiresome how some threads descend into the same old tit-for-tat nonsense, and I say that as someone who does get drawn into it from time to time.
When this happens, I've taken to removing the main Palace instigators from the thread in question, which generally results in me receiving PMs about censorship and the like, but it really is the quickest way of resolving the matter regardless of whether it's "fair" or not. I simply do not have the time to read whole threads to come to a decision as to who said what to whom. And if a thread has been started to take the piss out of Palace (and, really, there are so many opportunities) then I'm not going to give too much of a toss about Palace fans who believe they have a right to defend their club on those threads.
My preference would be to have a single Albion v Palace thread where those on both sides who want to argue about the same stuff each and every day could go to that, and leave all the other threads largely free of such shit. And it's really not difficult to reply/quote someone from one thread in another if you really want to do that.

For me the balance is fine at the moment. If you’re not enjoying a thread then just stop reading or posting on it.
As a (very) new moderator I have to say I think the right balance is normally struck too. I’ve asked the others for advice and the best I got back is “be consistent”. The consistency disappears if you suddenly come down more heavily without warning.
One thing I have learned is that an awful lot of moderation happens without *you* seeing it. In the last few days infractions have been handed out and posts edited to the total unawareness of 99% of the board. But we can only see it if you report it. If you don’t report it I might not see it and if I think something’s right in the balance but no ones reported it I’ll assume everyone’s ok with it.

Frankly, some of the worst recent trolling here has been BHA against BHA. The trolling of HBB (regardless of whether you thought he was a prat or not) was disgraceful, but seemed to go unchallenged by mods and others. I'm not surprised he finally flounced, as by the end every time he came on, the usual suspects were queuing up to have a pop.
Not even the most tedious away fan has had endure anything similar in my time on here.
If they want to post their version of the truth, then let them so long as they keep to the rules of the board like everyone else. It isn't as if we are overrun with them.

No restrictions. The issue here seems to be Palace fans but I think most are pretty decent. Perhaps if a handful of Albion fans could stop the alpha male stuff there would be less of a perceived problem ? The internet posturing about stadiums, finances etc is childish. Zaha is a diving cheat but he is also a great footballer...there I've said it and I don't mind hearing the views of Palace fans on the matter.
