I love melted butter
peanut butter
scraping of marmite and cheese spread
fried/poached or scrambled eggs

I like a multi-seeded sliced loaf.

MARMITE and melted butter. Has to be applied within 10 seconds of the toast popping up.

If I've missed that window then I go to Plan B of peanut butter and jam.

Isn't it more a question of what doesn't go on toast?

Always start with margarine, but after that the sky's the limit!

Anyone partial to Gentleman's Relish? It's a posh version of Marmite made out of anchovies...

Caviar, darling, obviously.

Or in the real world, Marmite or thick cut marmalade, such as Frank Cooper's Oxford.

Salted butter at breakfast time. Depending on the bread, this will either be:

- Applied within seconds of it popping up. This I find works best with cheaper store-bought bread such as 'Warburtons Toastie'.
- Applied after the bread has been left to cool in a toast rack. I find this is the best approach for higher quality fresh loaves.

For lunch/snacks, I would usually go with melted Cathedral City cheddar on toast.
