Phonetic nightmare trying to suggest a spelling for it that sounds right. What you have put sounds like a bloke's name - Brian. I agree about taking out the T in my spelling but there is a slight suggestion of a t or a d when you say it??

I'm with you Dougal, there should be no definite article. You can always tell the JCLs 'cos they talk about "The Albion" and "The Withdean"
So you say "I'm going to watch Albion tomorrow." That's plainly wrong.

Yes I do. Why's it wrong? And when I'm at the match I say things like "Come on Albion!" or "For f***'s sake Albion sort yourselves out!"
Still, at least no one's said they call us 'The Brighton'.

Yes, very funny! To be honest I'd never thought about it before and when the first poster (Titanic?) said THE Albion I was expecting tons of people to correct him - but instead it's me out on a limb! Ah well, I'm pretty sure I HAVE said 'the Albion' in the past as well. Anyway, it's no biggie.
Still, I'm looking forward to tomorrow when they read out the football scores and say "Brighton and Hove the Albion, five". I must have missed it all these years ...
