I always love the mid transfer window stocktaking thread.

We ideally still need a total of 8 defenders unless we rely on Offiah/Karbownik to be the 8th - and we have 6.

I think we need :

1. A central defender.
2. A right back if Lamptey is sold.
3. A central midfielder if Caicedo is sold.
4. The "8th defender", possibly a left back. I doubt that this is Karbownik.

We’re in a phoney war, where little’s revealed. Other than mega spending Arsenal, all clubs fans appear to be frustrated. It’s our impatience, wanting the squad complete by mid July.

Imho, we need:
CB - even if we sign Igor
LB - an injury to Estupinan would be a huge blow
DM - assuming Caicedo will depart
Goal scoring forward, not necessarily a striker

Based on a raft of extra games en route to EL glory in Dublin.

Once Igor is in, then I think Milner and Lamptey can provide cover for both Pervis and Joel.
If we get Palmer in from City then we are pretty much done if Moises stays.
If, as expected, Moises goes then we need another midfielder. We’ve been linked with a few and assume we’ve sounded out clubs re what we’d need to pay.

Its mad that at the top of most peoples list is a backup LB for Pervis and yet despite the numerous transfer rumours we have't been linked with any LBs (as far as I've seen - at least not strongly). Maybe RDZ/Brighton are backing Karbownik?? Surely our midfield "can do a job there" players aren't sufficient!?

What about a striker? We're not exactly flush with options up front.

Most urgently Full Backs, secondary Centre backs. I like our midfield and attacking options we are stacked in those areas.

I think Milner has come to play why sit on our Bench when he could warm Liverpool’s bench probably for more money.
I think he has come to learn from RDZ. He’s probably got as much out of the other decent PL managers over his career. Not sure Liverpool really wanted him this season.
He‘ll get plenty of game time either starting for injured players, giving some a rest off the bench or doing what he does in times of crisis.
