Well, it would still have to be Liverpool wouldn't it. I can't think of any other team that could have gone into that match at Stamford Bridge 3-1 down from the first leg, and been within a whisker of pulling off a most astonishing come back right up until the 92nd. minute, or whenever it was Lumpard scored Chelsea's fourth.

It certainly isn't us, unfortunately!

Hmmm, having grown up in the 90's, i'm sure there's another northern team who play in red that might have something to say about that....

Tonight was magnificant for English football. 4-4 in a Champions League 1/4 final. As much as the result didnt bother me, I would have liked Liverpool to win, as I cant stand Chelsea and its plastic following. Liverpool has more history, more passion, and more pride. Chelsea has players who are dick heads, fans who are dick heads, and an owner who is a dickhead (and Russian).

Good game, but wished Liverpool had won. Just hope Chelsea get knocked out in the Semis, wiope that smile off JT's face.:tosser:

couldn't have said it better myself mate.

Liverpool came back from 2-0 down against West Ham in the FA Cup Final a few years ago, there was a Champions League game when they had to score 3 times in the 2nd half to go through and they did it, and a tie against Marseille when they came back from the dead, I think.

The Tyldesley phrase that really fucks me off is when he talks about a player getting the ball 'under his spell'. He says it so many times it's UNBELIEVABLE, and it's SHIT and CLICHED and f***ing ANNOYING

Liverpool has more than its fair share of plastics. As someone who grew up in the 80’s there are plenty of Liverpool fans who jumped on the bandwagon when they won everything in sight, who couldn’t find Liverpool on a map and think that Dalgleish is a type of foreign cheese.

No more ‘spirit of Istanbul’ or Gerrard this Torres that for another year on ITV. Found myself cheering Chelsea on last night just to shut up the plastics in the pub. Especially good when two stormed out the pub when the Chelsea 4th went in. Unlucky LOSERS.

Always makes me chuckle when he feels he has to add the player's first name whenever they have a scoring opportunity. For some reason he felt the need to shout MICHAEL BALLACK at the top of his voice when he had that chance at the end.

ITV are complete wank

Absolutely. However, at least Liverpool did it in an era where money wasn't everything. Even Utd were lucky enough to have a fantastic crop of youngsters just as money started pouring into the game.

A successful side is always going to have plastics - it's the plastics that still there 20 years later I don't mind.

Not surprising that the Istanbul result is referred to more seeing as how it is widely recognised as the most inspirational comeback in the history of the CL.

Does anyone, no matter who they support, believe any different?

In practice, I disagree. Having been sat at a table at a wedding when Palace beat us 5-0 with a bunch of jubilant Liverpool fans who had just gone top of the league I can vouch its not much fun no matter how long they have supported them. Especially when they were about as scouse as the cast of Eastenders.

Finally, a couple of people state the obvious.

There are f***ing millions more plastic Liverpool fans than Chelsea. Chelsea's are just 20 years more recent, so seem that bmuch more plastic.

I actually enjoy seeing Chelsea and Arsenal win things. The BIG FOUR cartel doesn't bother me. Why should it - its an improvement on the BIG TWO that I grew up with.
