Does he lives 10,000 or so miles away from you and, as such, is not someone you see or speak to a great deal anyway?

My mothers neighbor ( a retired police inspector) his son is signing for Palace youth on Friday, he has played U17 for Wales, but was brought up in kent.

Do I never speak to him again or just say "well done son?"

What do I do ? Learn to spell "Neighbour" for a start.

Wish him good luck, its hard to make it. If he does, tell him he can redeem himself by making a verbal agrement to sign with them and when he does not recieve written conformation do a Gosling and sign for us or get in the first team and next big derby with us own goal or give away a couple of pens, then all is forgiven.

Whats his name, he may play in the reserves agaisnt us next year.

Suggest you nuture a friendship with him, get to know him really well and understand his strengths and failings (documented evidence). Gather a good dossier on him so when we play them he has to throw the match ...

or just say "well done Son", which may be a lot easier?
