I volunteer at a very remote, very big RSPB reserve and a couple of the (fantastic) wardens and some of the other volunteers are OBSESSED with fungi and in fairness once you start to see them, you see so many more! Me, I am WAY cooler than that so I got a book "The Hidden Life of Trees".....

This autumn I started taking photos of them on our daily walks, and got my eye in - spotting them everywhere, unusual varieties we’d never seen before. You‘re right, it became an obsession, and made the walks more interesting. Now I shall know what I’m looking at. Roll on October!
