[Albion] What did we do differently tonight?

I felt we had more bite in the tackles tonight we were not backing off or being the nice guys. Also in the last 10 minutes we were holding onto the ball playing safe not stupidly giving the ball away so better game management. However what a surprise Bobby gets booked the first time he wastes time yet Eddie's Son was dilly dallying constantly with nothing from the ref.

Our passing and movement was quicker and slicker than usual. We were more aggressive and pressed quicker, winning most of the 50/50 and 2nd balls. We didn’t really create many more chances than usual but, for a change, we converted three. Playing against 10 men for most of the match undoubtedly helped. Great occasion, great to be back.

Fans back, the atmosphere was crackling! Bissouma was immense, Trossard played (imo) his best game in an Albion shirt. Goals from two somewhat unlikely sources.

The stars aligned.

So glad to have got a ticket. Still feel as emotional and hyper as a Kangaroo that's been drinking Buckfast.

What was different a number of things

1. No pressure for eather team
2. 10 men
3. hard work
4. Bit of luck for once
5. Fans
6. The correct shirts

I wasn't going to start a thread, not wanting to bring up negatives on such a memorable night. But Ali J was absolute GUBBINS. He worked back a few times and put a shift in, but as an attacking influence he was trash. Every cross of his ended up in the south stand.

He's junk, and needs binning off this summer.

This. Game changed when he went off.

And he can’t tackle. Lucky not to be sent off for a high challenge.

10 men at 10 minutes must have had a big influence. Even at 1-down you have to think "we could do this".

Once ahead we seemed unbelievably calm on the ball. Not cocky, just calm.

I did worry after Burns goal that we’d crumble in the 5 mins after.

But we didn’t !

3-5-2, same against Southampton in 2nd half, Newcastle & Man Utd. Or maybe it was the lack of a striker on the pitch that inspired others to try shooting

The Potter haters have insisted all season that the fans would have been booing Potter if we were losing at home. Wankers, the fans INSPIRED us.

THIS!!

A big part of our lack of home success this season, is 0 fans at the Amex.

Not only does it inspire our players, it heaps pressure onto the opposition defence.
Watching Ederson ( he passes better than most outfield players, don't ya know) shank clearance after clearance out for a throw in was joyous.

I would wager that we would have won 4 or 5 othe rgames this season with fans in the stadium.

We wore the stripes. Took me a long time to realise but we are blue and white. Let’s not go back.

Oh and probably playing against 10 men with an eye on champions league and the euros. But let’s make no mistake we showed tonight the team we could have been all season.

The biggest difference is that the Citeh high pressing game suits our play. Look at this result and the Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs etc.. games.

The Sheffield United 11 or 10 men behind the ball we can't score.

Loved the game and the result but if our last game was against Sheffield, Fulham, West Brom etc... I'd think we'd still not get anything out of the game as we've not yet cracked that nut. But we will I'm sure. Not taking away from the fabulous result tonight and not getting (too) carried away either.

Vs The Arse in our last game, got to fancy 1/3 points even away

Exactly. I said this would happen when we ditched that horrible relegation kit and brought back the stripes.

Perhaps more to point, playing further upfield. Second and third goals from defenders in open play. That hasn't happened too often. Reflection of playing against 10 but also the absence of recognised striker so attitude of ‘better get on with job ourselves’. Not sure this would have played out had Maupay been playing.

There's the answer to our striker problems right there - don't play with any!

Can't believe how often we got the ball to the byline, especially on the left and whipped in some wicked low crosses. It was through only sheer luck that a City defender didn't deflect into his own net. And Ben White brought his shooting boots last night, was very unlucky not to score.

Oh, and with an Amex crowd there, we ALWAYS score in the North. Don't normally score three in the North v the EPL championes, mind
