Not sure we've made many friends in Boca, based on an interview that their President, Juan Román Riquelme, has recently given...

And he didn't stay there. Among ironic comments, the brand new boss of the Xeneize also launched questions against the representative of the soccer player, Adrián Ruocco, and also against the actions of the directors of Brighton.​

In this instance where a player has a release clause, it seems like we did something quite honorable in giving Boca the chance to potentially profit in the future from a sell-on clause. Objectively, I can't really see how that can be construed as behaving badly. It's not our issue if the player has a low release clause in his contract, that's between his agent and Boca.

Boca need to negotiate a good add on, we negotiate a high fee and the Chelsea type club is the one that actually ends up disappointed

The thing is in this instance, no pressure was really required. Boca had no say in whether the player stayed or not, unless they convinced him to sign a new contract. All they really had was the choice over whether they received the buy out figure in one chunk or whether they accepted installments and a sell-on clause.

I'm almost certain that it's not possible to be visibly obfuscated.

Financially yes. But must be frustrating for a huge club like Boca to be losing players on the cheap due to the PL money, especially for a club like Brighton.

Very similar to many of our fans in this respect. There is no right and wrong about this situation. It’s a negotiation and a financial deal. That’s all.

What is there to not feel great about?

Boca themselves negotiated a contract with Barco that included a release clause. Albion met that release clause.

What on earth have Albion done wrong in this instance?
