Cold Granite by Stuart Macbride.
Grim tale from the grim city of Aberdeen
Excellent read

But it has got the first chapter of the guys next book at the back.
Drives me mad that does.
Who cares? Does anyone ever actually read the first chapter of the next book and the go out and buy it and remember what happened ? No, of course they don't.

A recommendation here for Stuart McBride, I’ve read all of his, for the most part he’s excellent.
Maybe one or two a bit gory, Fleshouse for example, but, he’s worth reading.

A god awful Andy McNab booking kindle called Red Notice.

I’m trying out new authors, or ones I haven’t read for a while, to try and find some more that I like.
I won’t be reading anymore Andy McNab.

Nicholas Nickleby. My third Dickens in a row having read an excellent biography of the great author by Claire Tomalin. Might shelve it for a while however, when my copy of the Mirror and the Light arrives from Amazon.

The Eyes of Darkness, by Dean R Koontz.

This horror novel has gained a bit of traction of late, being as it was published in circa 1981, and apparently predicts a worldwide bronchial virus around 2020 called Wuhan-400, which is spooky. Scabby old paperback editions are apparently online now for 50 odd quid at the moment due to that, but a mate of mine had it gathering dust on a bookshelf and he's lent it to me, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm a few chapters in, and it FEELS every bit like a standard early 80s downmarket chiller, but the author does have some pleasing metaphorical flourishes, and its certainly drawn me in. Decent so far.

I rarely read non-fiction, but am halfway through the excellent book by Mark Nicholas - A Beautiful Game.

So glad I picked it up. Recommended for any cricket fan.

The one good think I’ve found in self-isolating is that I’ve managed to read quite a bit. I’ve just finished reading ‘Born to Run’ by Christopher McDougall and now I’m on ‘Eat and Run’ by Scott Jurek. Once that’s done, It’ll be ‘Sherlock Holmes’ by Mr Stephen Fry.
