Just got the latest "Roy Grace" novel by Peter James (the ones based in Brighton) always worth a read.

also Tom Bale has a series of crime novels based in Sussex, starts with "skin & bones".

Neil White has some good stuff, first book in my fav series is about a serial killer murdering footballers: "fallen idols".

One of my favourite action writers is Scott Mariani who writes the "Ben Hope" books, starts with "the Alchemist's secret".

If you want adventure fantasy "Raymond E Feist" is u'r man, starts with "Magician" and he'll suck u in for ever
also the late "David Gemmell" is from Hastings, start with "Legend" then google the reading order.

Most are fairly easy reads, so just fill up u'r kindle and plough through.

I really enjoyed The Ghost (the book).

Great book in my opinion. I'm not generally a fan of thrillers or this type of book. But thought it was fantastically written. Read it in one sit.

The Fallen Angel by David Hewson. Latest in a character police series set in Rome. Then I have the new Peter James lined up!

Wild Stories, a collection of essays and profiles from journalists/writers/explorers etc originally written for Men's Journal. One of the best reads for a long time. Subjects range from the solo expeditions and mountaineering, via sporting stories , Chris Boardman etc arriving at Survivors stories from 9/11. A cracking read and cost me 50 earth pence from one of the excellent kemptown bookshops I frequent. Support independant bookshops, .

Terry Pratchett's other claim to fame is that he was born on exactly the same day as me.Seems only right to read the Discworld novels,even if I do risk my sides splitting.

I don't think the film will be as good as the books to be honest!!! They rarely are really aren't they and I think your imagination can run riot with something like fifty shades of filth!!! The books have been soooo good that the film if they are not careful will just end up being like any other porn you can buy!

Yep, usually the case with the odd exception.....my favourite film is Shawshank Redemption which was based off a short story by Stephen King ......story itself is no great read but film is amazing. Can't think of many instances where this is the case.

1st book I've read in ages....'Build a Bonfire'. Got it as a birthday present. Loving it. Brings back a few old memories and the odd tear! About 2/3rds through at the moment.

Finished Teddy Sheringhams Autobiography , very, very plain - basically the first third of the book is him ripping into Sugar/Praising El Tel , and the rest is him defending his actions pre Euro '96 and France '98 , also this was finished just after the '98 World Cup so doesn't go into the end of his career.

Half-way through The Colour Of Magic by Terry Pratchett, as suggested on another thread. Not read any of his other stuff, but thought I'd try the Discworld series. Quite amusing, but seems aimed at a younger reader - is this typical of his work, or does it get heavier?
