What areas are we not championship standard?

I must have missed something, I didn't realise Painter was the lastest target for the boo boys. Lets be honest if you listen to some on here, you would thing that every player on the pitch will cope in the championship. Week in week out there is a massive gulf in class between the divisions and Gus will be looking to be top end as well, you can count on that. He has already said we maybe looking at six or seven to strenghten the squad in certain areas. If seven is right I would think they would be a keeper, left back, centre half, two midfielders and two strikers

At the moment, probably just a striker, and cover for both full backs.

A loan signing for the season in the mould of a Lua Lua would be great too, to have Noone and XXX coming off the bench would give us a chance against all Champ sides!

Absolutely, I dont understand people saying this either, there isnt a better left back in the division, if we have 5 or 6 players who i am comfortable with at a higher level Painter is one of them, he just dosent do bad games !

He does do bad games. More often than we realize.

Painter is very good at hiding when he's having a bad game and chances his style to suit. That's why he's the best left back in league one.

Look at what Millwall, Leeds & Norwich have done since winning promotion last May. I'm not sure we have a relegation battle to worry about

I think we might need a keeper with more presence.

Considering we only have one striker signed up for next season (Barnes) then clearly we need to look at that. Hopefully Murray will be staying, wouldn't mind keeping the other two as well but I think we need another high quality striker. Although if we got LuaLua maybe we wouldn't need one, with him bringing some extra pace and skill to the side.

We're in good shape really, I think we'd be quite at home in the Championship with the current squad. Just a question of how much stronger it might be (although keeping Dicker, Bridcutt and Murray on new contracts is very important).

Why am I reading in various threads that people suddenly don't think Marcos Painter can play in the Championship? Why is he the latest target for the boo boys? :US:
.

I wouldn't put myself in the boo boy category, however I do agree that Painter might not be up to Championship quality. I love how composed he is, how well he gets forward etc but I do worry about the lack of pace he displays. Over a long distance he's fine but the margin for error in the Championship is considerably smaller as he will be up against much trickier, pacier wingers over short distances.

It's a shame his knee injury while at Swansea occurred once they had made the jump up to Championship standard as we have no frame of reference.
