I was laid off mid July last year and decided to give the handyman thing ago whilst I looked for something else, but being 58 I knew what reaction I was going to get from the job market.
True to form I have not had one interview and for the last 3 months I have not bothered to look anymore.
I had 3 quiet days when I started mid July, but have not stopped since.
I have been working 5 or 6 days a week since then and built up enough to have a comfortable and stress free Christmas break.
I started back yesterday and am booking into Feb already, looks like I struck oil and being multi skilled has helped.
My client base is getting bigger and I am enjoying work again, I go to work sometimes not knowing what is going to happen and many times the jobs get bigger, just hope that it continues this way and will keep at it for the foreseeable.
Wife says that I seem much better and more interested in what I am doing.

My birthday also falls on a Friday this year, so getting lashed for the whole weekend !
Though I have noticeably cut down on the booze and only gone up 2kg in weight over Christmas and New Year.
