Decided to stay in for NYE this year. So having a bottle of bubbly and steak, potatoes (of some variety) and vegetables. No pudding, quite fat enough after Christmas.

Last night shepherds pie and bakes beans with broccoli on the side washed down with an average middle shelf Rhone red. Curry tonight, probably a madras or boona with a few beers I think.

Curry, as with many dishes, is always better the next day so your 5am job may be a masterstroke.

Today? Champagne starter, tempura prawn and squid with chilli , fillet steak with chips, creamed spinach and a red wine truffle jus, rum baba, and a bottle of Nava D'avola to wash it all down. Nice anniversary lunch at the Ivy. Happy days, sleepy evening!
