Seeing as Lionesses do the hunting and killing I would say a Bear would THRASH a Lion. Lazy ****s!

Crocs can pelt at about 35 mph, nice acceleration, but only in a straight line, for around 20 yards I believe. Their jaws have to get a hold onto a limb of something that can't fight back, and once closed, a mere 15 pounds or so of pressure can keep their gob shut. Their jaw muscles are tremendous at biting down, pretty weak at opening up.
They might fare well underwater, but on the earth a bear is also incredibly strong, and before the croc has got anywhere with the bear, he's got an enormous angry thing in his immediate proximity, that weighs tons (more than he can drag at any speed or for any ditance), and it will be attacking him with claws that will make several handbags and 12 pairs of shoes of him rather swiftly.

Bear looks like getting into Europe, well before the end of the season.

They can outrun a racehorse over a short distance (allegedly).
On Grouse Mountain in Vancouver they have a couple of orphaned Grizzly Bears (and they are big buggers). They experimented by adding some wolves into the enclosure to simulate "wild" conditions. There was an altercation between a bear and a wolf, and the bear swiped the wolfs head clean off in one move .... in front of a whole load of tourists ...
the bear would win on size and power, but I would imagine it would be a cracking fight!!
