refering to Steve Harmison.

Why do the England selectors keeping picking him for away tours. It's been known for a while his mind in not in it resulting in him playing sh*te.

Poor little boy gets homesick ( ah bless him ) . Grow up and act like a man FFS !!!!:censored:

Who wouldn't want to play cricket in the sun in places like the West Indies, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.... he a big girls blouse in my opinion.

Let's face it,he is not forced to play, he chooses to.

Should not be picked to play for his country again.

Yep have to agree. I wonder if it's some kind of deep routed thing that he should be councelled for. As on the face of it DD's right, who wouldn't want to tour with England.
I bet Botham has no comprehension of SH's plight

There are too many England players still WALLOWING in the glory of 2005.

Their performances since then have shown that instead of a great team destined to push Australia all the way for the next few years, we have a team that managed a 'once in a lifetime' dream series, with nothing to back it up.

Harmison is a joke. He needs to knuckle down and DO HIS f***ing JOB instead of trying to justify why is chronically under-prepared for the current tour.

Apparently during recent interviews with him he's been unable to even look up. Predominately just staring at the floor.
Hussain thinks this it for SH

I do think England suffer without Flintoff (or another genuine all rounder). Australia could get away with only playing 4 bowlers when they had bowlers of the quality of Warne and McGrath, but for England I do feel they need that 5th bowler in the side. There are some decent enough English bowlers, but none that you can rely on to win you a match time and again.

In a couple of years if Rashid continues his progress this may well give us a bit of balance as he could be an all rounder at 6, until then it is hope that Flintoff comes back or muddle through.

Been obvious for some years. Cannot understand why the selectors continued to pick him. IMHO Vaughan has had his day also and the whole squad needs revewing and sorting out. Lived on the Ashes 2005 for too long.

I still thinks Vaughan has a role to play, still one of our best batsman.

Really needs to start converting his 50's to 100's though.

Surely vaughan can't have gone from inspirational captain to useless just becuase of injury - there was a point where i would've taken vaughan as captain even if he couldn't bat, much like brearley.

What is happening to sports people (football and cricket) - not long ago people put up with rubbish pay and being away from their families for long periods becuase they were doing the thing they loved and knew the honour of playing sport for their country. Now we have people who complain about anything while they are away with england.

somewhat surprised that Hoggard was dropped. Broad for Harmison was pretty obvious but i thought Hoggard deserved another go. i know his figures were shit in the first test but, in my opinion, he's been consistent enough in the past to warrant a bit longer in the side to sort it out. and he's been replaced by Anderson who doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. and what about the batsmen? Shah for Strauss anyone? i like Strauss and think he has a role to play but he should have been given more cricket before being brought back into the test side. after that shambles of a second innings, the top order has been left alone. don't they need a kick up the arse as much as the bowlers?

We have the nucleus of a great side. The problem is getting all parts to fire at once. Very rarely since 2005 has this happened; we skittle a side out then get skittled ourselves - we score 500 and then concede 500. It seems as if there is no responsibiltiy bein taken by anyone.

My team;

1. Vaughan - one of the most technically gifted batsmen I have EVER seen. Has to play.
2. Cook - Has the potential to be a run machine. Openers will always get out cheaply and you have to take the rough with the smooth.
3. Bell - Pure class - needs to convert
4. Pietersen - needs to bat more for the team. I can't remember the last time he took us over the finish line in either form of the game. Must play.
5. Collingwood - every team needs a nurdler. He needs to play to his limitations and not get out playing effing ridiculous shots. Good enough to be used as a 5th bowler.
6. Shah - what more does he have to do? Consistent run scoring at all levels and 88 on test debut in India.
7. Prior - I still feel he has a part to play. Anyone who has kept to Mushy for three years can't be a bad keeper. Needs a prolonged run in the side.
8. Flintoff - should play primarily as a bowler. England's best seamer.
9. Hoggard - Englands most consistent bowler of the last 5 years. I'm staggered that he has been dropped.
10. Broad - Needs to start playing now. Has real potential.
11. Panesar - Having a slight lull but he has proven he can turn a ball. Variation will come with experience.

As for the captaincy, I still feel Vaughan has a lot to offer. Cook needs to be groomed as his successor.

I'm really dissapointed with his performance and demeanor.

If I was the England management I think I'd put it to him that if he's not capable of taking a big haul of wickets at the moment, at the very least he needs to be bowling fast & hostile. Take all the pressure off him to be taking wickets but he needs to show that he's still one of the fastest around. If you are banging it in at 90mph and making the batsman work then the wickets will come soon enough. If he can be hostile enough, the other bowlers should be able to clean up around him.

Those pictures of Harmison sitting on his own with a face liked a slapped arse during the first test reflected very badly on him
