I cant help but be ecxited about the amount of signings we have made so far.
We have the Coca Cola kid,Jason Dodd, and an Argentinian.
Then we have a Fish on trial and another Centre back form WBA and may even get Blayney too...
That makes it 6 players if they all sign.
I cant remember another time when we got so many new players in...

We've also lost two of our brightest youngsters for big money which hasn't really been reinvested in the team.

Can't say I'm that optimistic at the moment.

At least we are bringing players in. The squad will have options and from what McGhee wa ssaying he is not finished yet either.

I am getting more and more optimistic as time goes by. Virgo is a big loss, Harding is NOT.

Harding has cut his teeth in the league now, and won't make the f*** ups he did last season. Leeds have got a decent player there. I should hope McGhee hasn't finished yet - our midfield is woefully inadequate, we have an 18 year old who has played a handful of games experience (in division 4) leading the line and we have no pace at the back.

McGhee said he still wants a left back, a central midfielder & a winger - he said that yesterday. We haven't spent any of the Harding/Virgo money yet. That is where we are going to spend money I reckon.

I'm feeling quite positive about the season, certainly when compared to a couple of weeks ago.

We have the forward line sorted. The argentinian doesn't sound like a prolific scorer of goals but he does appear to have a very good touch, and is able to hold the ball up and play team mates in. Which is exactly what McGhee has been saying for a long time that he's looking for. CKR seems to have a bit of a spark about him and is probably capable of scoring a few goals. And Leon should be much more dangerous as the weight of expectation will be off his shoulders and he won't be our one attacking threat. If these three can score 7 or 8 goals each and the back up strikers chip in with a couple here and there we should be o.k.

We've lost two good, young defenders, true. But we've brought in Dodd who is more than capable of holding his own at this level. Mark Fish should be an excellent signing. And hopefully the guy from WBA could be too. Apparently he's fast, big and strong and is calm on the ball-he likes to play it to feet out of defence. So if they both sign I don't think the defence will be much if any weaker than last season.

And if Blayney is desperate to join us, as we are told, and if McGhee wants to bring him here then I think it's only a matter of time before he signs. So we'll be sorted in the goalkeeping department too.

Which only leaves midfield. Hopefully we can find someone there, too. But if not, we'll still be stronger overall than last season.

So far a net loss, possibly fatal with Virgo gone but depends on the newbies.

At least things are moving along a bit now - a couple of weeks ago nothing seemed to be happening or likely to happen, although it probably was behind the scenes.

BTW - I know the tribunal is tomorrow, but will we know the result tomorrow too or will we have to wait for that ?

You say that but we had lost Currie and Cullip before christmas.
Harding was pretty crap all year so no major loss, that leaves only Virgo which i think we have more than replaced with all these new players.
Come on people you all ask for transfers and when we have lots for the first time in ages everyone is still negative

Im optimistic.

Dodds is better than Harding FACT. I dont think Harding will be any good at all at Leeds, we sold them a dud.

Fish if fit will be better than Virgs in CD. Far more experienced, He has played for Lazio, captained South Africa and never been out of the top flight. We have another CD on trial who sounds ok and good back up.

We have 2 new strikers both of whom seem promising.

We seem to be getting a permanent Keeper to cover Kuipers.

I think we are a midfielder or 2 away form being MUCH better than we were last season. I feel confident that we could be midtable.

I'll be feeling very positive especially if Blayney and Fish sign on.

This may be just my warped thinking but Vigo going will help us more than if he stayed if it enables us to get two or three decent players with the money. He was vital last year with his goals but surely one of our 7? strikers will come good this year, hopefully more than one, and you can't say he will be missed in defence because he didn't play that many games there last season I don't think.

Hardings departure has left us more exposed in a single position though but hopefuly MM is on the case for that position and another left sided player.

We CAN finish mid-table if we make the correct signings with the Virgs / tribunal dosh...

Must haves = keeper, lb, cd...

For mid-table = the above, plus another cd, left-winger... maybe creative central midfielder...

MM on the case... let's hope he gets his targets...

I can't wait to see all these new players plus more, proper excited I am! And no one has even mentioned on this thread how AMAZING Dean Hammond is going to be this season. He'll probably go in the January window but he'll be great for a few months!
