What a load of rubbish Man Utd v Arsenal

United were awesome last night, a wee bit lucky perhaps, but still put on a performance any team would have dreamed of in a game of such magnitude.

Love or hate Ronaldo, he delivers just about every week and watching him is a joy to behold.

Arsenal were unfortunate, but United made them look a shadow of the team they are capable of being, and certain individuals seemed to give up when United got their early second.

With only 8-9 men actually trying against a strong United team, well you're f***ed basically, and I'm afraid the Gunners were made to luck like the 99p water pistols throughout that display.

I also dispute the boring accusation, as a neutral perhaps, but as a United fan that must have been the equivalent of a full on Deep Purple reunion for the likes of me! If anything the match was made less exciting (or flowing), by the ref and his love affair with his whistle.

A display of such footballing power as to utterly embarrass the opposition and ridicule the so called "high" standard of our domestic football.

I'd be very surprised if this United side are beaten by either Barca or Chelsea on that showing.

I don't watch them, I don't watch any football channels that they may be mentioned on or buy papers the day they play or the day after they play. (unless they lose of course then I'll watch the highlights and enjoy)

Just remember though that they have a load of absolute scummers in their team that I detest when they play for England so I certainly wouldn't like the likes of Ro***do in the Brighton team. Blimey the fans were annoyed enough with Leon Knights dives, what would it be like if we played the Portuguese version of Tom Daley - No thanks.

If the Albion were ever at a standard to be able afford someone with the skills and faults of Ronaldo the vast majority of fans would love it. Some, of course, would never admit that.

I don't like the diving either because he is good enough not to need to do it, so it's stupid. Yes, some Albion fans were irritated by Leon Knight's diving but they were happy enough when he was scoring goals! I was more annoyed by his attitude and lack of effort.

I think they should scrap the away goals ruling, because like last night, it can kill a tie stone dead before its even started. Lose the first leg away 1-0 and Its almost insurmountable if the away team then scores first in the 2nd leg, leaving the home team needing 3 without reply during the 90.

OK we had a classic 2nd leg between Chelsea and Liverpool in the previous round, due to Liverpool coming out all guns blazing as they needed to score at least 3, but more often than not, the away goal just kills the tie as a spectacle. Its TOO valuable.
I agree that in some respects it's too valuable and it's an anachronistic throwback to the days when European travel was still done virtually by sailing ship and biplane. But then you get ultra-negative, cowardly performances like Chelsea's last week and you think again. If away goals had counted quadruple do you think they'd have shown a bit more spirit?

I think you are being a bit harsh on Chelsea there.

They didn't have a lot of choice but to play that way against a rampant Barca although it was certainly interesting rather than exciting.

Tonight will be even more interesting to see what tactics they adopt. They have to be more adventurous but an away goal would probably kill them.

Really? I never liked him, I simply don't like cheats. I'll admit to cheering his penalty at Cardiff, luckily that was a stonewall penalty but I wish somebody else would have scored it.

Ro***do? Wouldn't want him anywhere near The Albion. In fact I'd much rather have Joey Barton playing for us and I can't stand him either!!!

I can't stand Barton either but I'd rather have a diving Ronaldo with all his skills than a violent animal with far fewer skills like Barton.

If Ronaldo played for Newcastle and Barton for Man U I bet your opinon would be reversed!

Chelsea just parked the bus last week, clearly valuing a clean sheet above an away goal, but that is a dangerous game to play as I think they'll probably find out tonight. I'm just not convinced that away goals genuinely encourage teams to go out and attack in their away leg (certainly not in Chelseas case last week).

Away goals are irrelevent in the Playoffs, and I've seen plenty of absolutely STORMING two-legged ties over the years to convince me that you really don't need to dangle an away goal as some kind of carrot. Most teams treat it for what it is - 180 crucial minutes for a tilt at promotion, and usually BOTH teams try to take a goal advantage into the 2nd leg. I don't recall the away side shutting up shop in the first leg of the Playoffs too often, they're nearly always cracking games.

I think winning at home 1-0 then losing away 2-1 but going through cos of that 1 away goal is fundamentally wrong and unfair. If its 2-2 on aggregate then have ET and pens, BOTH teams have earned that chance to go through, not one of them.

The look on the Arsenal fans faces after 11 minutes of play reminded me of expressions I've seen regularly this season....

If you think attacking against Barcelona will work then watch the Madrid Game:thumbsup:

Knight didn't go down for the penalty in Cardiff

Spot on.

The playoffs demonstrate this perfectly. It's just a shame ITV choose to spend all their money on Champions League football rather than these often far more interesting matches.

The playoffs constitute the tournament with the most excitement and the best atmosphere of the LOT, if you ask me.

It wouldn't have been men against boys if....

a) their left back hadn't fallen over and Park had scuffed the finish into the ground

b) that cheating twat had stayed on his feet

c) the Spanish waiter didn't have holes in his hands

Arsenal started superbly but had the stuffing knocked out of them in two ridiculous passages of play. Oh well, we can at least pretend United are the best team in the world for another week......

That's all true apart from the last bit. United are of course the best team in the world, the may have bought it and are easy to hate, but it's true.

Arsenal have slipped behind because of a lack of investment. If they bought a world class keeper, someone like Vidic (a bully) and someone to partner Fabregas every week, they'd be up there because there's no doubting that players like Van Persie, Arshavin and Nasri are world class talent right up there with that of United, but arsenal just miss the solid spine to the team that United have in Carrick, Ferdinand, Vidic and Van Der Sar.

I thought it was a decent game but nothing more. Man U certainly didn't play brilliantly, a couple of mistakes cost a poor Arsenal team, and ref who gave every single 50/50 Man U's way played a part. Their third goal was very good though
