I'd have absolutely loved it (LOVED IT) if we had sneaked a winner, but I'm not disappointed that we didn't.

It was just a fantastic game of football to watch. Great for the neutrals? Probably, but even better if you're massively invested, as we all are.

Going toe-to-toe with the best team in the world, with a massively depleted side, yet largely matching them all over the park.

At times it was like a bizarre game of foot-chess as they allowed Steele to progress...and progress...and progress. They had no intention of pressing him, instead focused on blocking the short passes to the centre-backs. It briefly looked as though he had some sort of forcefield around him that would have allowed him to just walk the ball the full length of the pitch.

Anyway. Amazing and enthralling in equal measure, and a real privilege to be there to watch.

The first half was the best half of football I’ve ever seen and enjoyed. f***ing he’ll both teams played their part it was insanely good. Im not a phrase of this term but it was Elite.

I watched city destroy Madrid and it’s the best half of football I’ve seen from an English team ever. The first half tonight pissed all over it and full credit to both teams. I wouldn’t have cared if we lost tonight that was the greatest ever Brighton performance there has ever been. Hands down.

I guarantee both managers absolutely loved it. It was Beautiful.

It was one of those WOW moments, I’ve had quite frequently recently, watching us play.

It was incredible and I felt so proud of our team which was put together on a shoestring (in football terms) budget, fantastically coached against the half a billion Citeh, mega rich players.

They were on a 12 game winning streak which ended last night.

We stood up to them and went toe to toe. Every neutral and pundit applauded our game and we are SO over the radar that we're stratospheric.

Re Steele, tonight really emphasised how MOTD were correct when they discussed everything starting with him. He was brilliant tonight with his feet - some utterly sublime longer balls.

Its insane how calm our players are on the ball - even current fringe players. Cruyff turning and alsorts all over the show in our own final third against the best team in the world. Just an absolute joy to watch!

How wrong I was. Magnificent. I just couldn’t stop smiling through the first half. We Even had more goals disallowed than them. Van Hecke was superb.

The first 45 was everything football should be and I’ve never seen a better one anywhere.

There were times when it was like the very best Brazilian beach football you could imagine and yet it was deeply tactical too. Both coaches have transformed English football but it’s still incredible to me that we have the players to carry it out - including multiple teenagers and”Sunderland reject” Jason Steele.
