According to BBC :
The Portuguese winger and Lucas Neill clash on the edge of the box and Nani is guilty of head-butting the Hammers captain and is shown a straight red. Neill was not entirely faultless and he is booked for his troubles.

I loved the way Nani went down afterwards. He could be on stage with acting like that.

Looks like Neill pinched Nani's dick which is what made him react the way he did. Not good behaviour from either of them, and in my opinion Neill should have got a red card as well - but obviously no one could see what Lucus Neill did.
