[Football] West Ham - Watford (nailed on draw?)

At last a relegation game that I can relax and not really care that much about, I’d prefer a Watford win although a draw would also be ok

My biggest problem is my wife’s restlessness at the amount of football I am watching

Told Mrs Mellotron that the season ends next Sunday. She was delighted.

watford win please.

If they lose then Bournemouth or Villa decent chance to stay up. Would like both down and ideally Villa down with last day drama and heartache

Think I would prefer a Watford win.
That means West Ham nor Watford would go above us and West Ham also have Man U then Villa, could make an entertaining end to the season.

Is the correct answer. Since if West Ham then lose to Man U (which I would expect given United still playing for Europe places) then Aston Villa or West Ham will finish below us since they play in final game.

All scenarios are quite good though since a draw or loss for Watford will mean they need to get 3 points from Man City and Arsenal.

Basically unless everyone else is on the beach we should be fine...and it will all be irrelevant when we stuff Newcastle and Burnley....

Very much so, and yet a Watford win is the least likely outcome according to the betting. You can get matched at 3.65 on Betfair, cracking bet imo.
I would say more likely a nailed on Both Score bet.

Both will be desperate to win, neither will be playing for a draw.
I'd say the Watford price is about right and I'm really not convinced BTTS is nailed on at all. I agree it is more likely to happen than not, but that is reflected in the odds. Only Palace and Norwich have scored fewer than Watford and they are the away side here. They have been crap all season, apart from one extended purple patch and the occasional good performance. West Ham have under-performed all season but I think they will dig out a result here.

I pretended I couldn't hear her follow up question as she was in another room...

Just tell her that the Euro's have been rescheduled for the gap between the end of this and the beginning of next season. When she explodes, tell her you were only joking - and she'll be so relieved, she won't mind that next season is just a few weeks away!

Actually not a terrible shout, ha.

The way I'm looking at this is that next season I'd expect Watford to be much much better and therefore a much bigger threat to us. Villa on the other hand I expect to be awful again, they have spent loads and are stuck with very very poor players. Cant see Bournemouth improving too much either. Based on that then I'd rather see Watford drop and therefore lose tonight. I'd love even more for West Ham to go but just cant see them not at least getting a draw with Villa on the last day if they need it to stay up.

You might as well have written that in Swedish !

I have no idea what any of it means lol.

I think I want Watford to win tonight. I have an irrational burning desire to see plucky relegated, and a Watford defeat tonight will make that much less likely in my opinion.

Fair chance City's focus will be cup final and CL.
Not impossible they could get something out of it.

We were the last league team to face a full strength City, this season.

But as Bournemouth showed their reserves aren't too shabby.

Watford must win IMO, their final games are City and Arsenal.

I wonder if the fans on Watford forums are arguing over the definition of a must-win game like on here?

For what it's worth, I'd classify this more as a must-not-lose game for them. A draw still puts them 4 points clear and I can't see Bournemouth beating Southampton, who have been one of the in-form sides since restart.

Nothing is ever nailed but I think BTTS is really good at 1.80. Maybe West Ham with the BTTS is better than the X though, as you say - Watford got issues scoring and most likely will need to sacrifice a lot defensively to make something happen, and West Ham are probably good enough to abuse it.

On a complete sidenote, I think "bet of the year" is in Segunda Division today. Sure, Cadiz already got their promotion secured and Girona is chasing a playoff spot... but 7.50 on a league leader to win is something you wont see many times..

On my Both Score coupon along with Hammers/Watford already!
