Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s finish 2018 with a trip to West Ham United this afternoon, as they look to secure three points in the Premier League 2 Division 1 at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, kick-off 1pm.

The Seagulls occupy fifth position ahead of today’s game, just four points behind league leaders Derby County, while the Hammers sit tenth following their 3-2 defeat to Chelsea last time out.

Albion were also beaten in their previous league fixture against Leicester City, but Simon Rusk’s team picked up a 3-2 victory over Swansea City in Wales last month to boost their title chances.

Top goalscorer Aaron Connolly received the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for November yesterday morning, and the Irishman will be looking to add to his 17 goals already this season.

Rusk’s side met the Hammers four times during the 2016/17 campaign, which saw the east Londoners win promotion to the top flight, but Albion remained unbeaten in all four matches.

Two 3-0 victories came at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre, while the Seagulls also won 3-1 in the Premier League Cup away from home, before a goalless draw in the league.

Albion sealed a 4-0 win over Hastings United in the Sussex Senior Cup during the week, but Rusk is expected to make numerous changes for this afternoon’s final league match of the year.

Supporters can follow a live text blog from the game on the Match Centre, with a report and reaction to follow after the full-time whistle.
