Below is the response I have just received from West Ham United FC. They were very quick with their response btw!

I can now conclude that;

a) The OB DO have a say in allocation, albeit only about the level of segregation.

b) BHAFC were totally accurate in their discription of events.

c) I can now sleep at night.

mind you it does still beg the question of why West Ham don't release more seats for this sort of game to make more money?

-------------------

Dear Lammy,

No Brighton & Hove Albion were not offered the 3 options of seating you showed.

The maximum allocation offered for a Coca Cola Championship fixture is 2,800, unfortunately this can differ slightly depending on the size of the sterile area required by the local constabulary. For the Brighton fixture we have a large break resulting in an allocation of 2,646.

The Football League rulebook states - Each club must make provision for at least 2000 visiting supporters at every home match or such numbers that represents 10% of the clubs certified capacity, if less then 2000 the executive may on the prior written application of a club, suspend this regulation of reduce this figure either for a particular match or for a period of time

It is only for Domestic Cup competitions that a visiting team are able to request up to 15% of a grounds capacity.

I trust this answers the points raised to your satisfaction,

Regards

Steve Kitcher

Now can we argue about the way that the club distribute the tickets that they receive?

Apparently the club are going to change the distribution method. They will ask you "Are a loyal fan" if you say "Yes" , and are among the first 2,700 to apply for a West Ham ticket, you are given a ticket!

To be honest I don't really have a problem with the current system. My issue has only ever been with the number of tickets we received. It seems that this was totally down to West Ham not wanting the money. I'll have NO sympathy for them if they get into money troubles.

Well, I'm glad that's cleared up... read Insider's response on Ask The Club too... I'm now satisfied that BHA did the right thing... still think WHU fcuked this up tho'... as someone said, somewhere... it's gonna be carnage... BHA in the home end...

you all had more than enough time to write a cheque out, address 2 envelopes put a stamp on each and pop it in a postbox.

details were available on 6 October on how to apply.

Get organised:rolleyes:

What if 3000 people were all organised?

The database should tell them who the regulars are ! (when they have sorted it out !!)

It's not that black and white. I was not aware that I was able to make it to this fixture until reasonably late, i.e. two weeks ago.

If the fixture was a sell out then it wouldn't boher me as much. I'd still be annoyed but I'd have no one to blame.

The fact that this fixture is NOT going to be a sell out is what rubs me up the wrong way. I never thought for a minute that I would have trouble getting a ticket for this as West Ham should have plenty of room to house us all.

I have no problem with a first come first served basis either. It's the simplest and reasonably fair way of administering tickets. What I don't like about loyalty schmes is it alienates the casual fan which are exactely the sort of fans we need to encourage. That last thing we want to do is create an away fans cliche. We have enough of that on NSC!

They know they will be filling the sterile zone with Albion fans kicked out from the home parts of the ground.

It doesn't alienate the casual fan.

There are plenty of away matches that do not sell out.

They tend to be the ones that are difficult to get to. The Casual supporter tends to want to go to the local clashes that are popular with everyone.
