It seems VAR was checking when the 2nd whistle happened. As it was just before it crossed the line was a re-take. If it had been when over the line would have been a goal? Unbelievable.
.

Exactly. Am I being really thick what is the significance of that? As you say if ball was over the line then somehow it's a goal

I'm trying to remain calm, but I think I'll absolutely lose it if Potter decides the answer is Jahanbakhsh! Our forwards are playing badly enough on their own without someone coming on to get in their way.

If he brings him on I'm going to smash the TV screen in.

I’m getting seriously worried about playing the rest of the season with Dan Burn on the left side of our defence. Yes, tries his best. I can’t fault him in that. But he’s nowhere near good enough. And that, I’m afraid, is what counts.

Have you seen who he’s got to pass to up front? Don’t blame him for hitting and hoping. I’ve had enough watching Maupay and Connolly embarass themselves at this level, he probably has too.

That’s the issue. None of the front runners can win these balls so it just ends up back with West Brom

Why did he blow for the second time anyway - because they weren't ready? But he'd already said Dunk could take it. What kind of crap ref blows the whistle again just as the ball is about to enter the net? Disgraceful.

With limited striking options at the likes of Brighton and Burnley, CLEAN SHEETS ARE EVERYTHING.

Giving us the wins over Leeds, Liverpool and Spuds.

Bartley scoring was a huge blow.

(I knew Fatso’s team would score against us today, we can’t cope with physical, tall teams that get amongst us).

We take the piss out of Fatso, Dyche, Woy, Warnock & Howe etc etc but they always turn us over, still our possession is amazing

The goal was disallowed because the whistle went.

We’ll have to wait to hear from Mr Mason why he blew up as the ball was on it’s way to the net. What did he see?

Pretty sure he’s going to say that Dunk started to take it before the first whistle was blown

This, just about everyone involved in this game has been shite and my footballing mojo is currently at rock bottom.

That isn't my point. I can just about take the Palace result and the poor performance today. 42 years of watching this lot will do that to you. But as frustrating as bad decisions were, they happened straight away. You could celebrate or explode with rage straight away. VAR takes away all spontaneity of celebrating as you are always looking for reasons they might chalk it off. And in this case, take 6 minutes and still get it wrong. The only thing beyond the officials/VAR/PL that adds to this feeling is the shocking surrounding of the ref from both sides. We have had players congregating behind the ref as he watches the replays in previous games. The whole thing is just - insert word of your choice here. And for the rest of the first half and still, I just feel numb about the whole game.

Sanchez was naive at the back with their goal allowing himself to be boxed in.

Gross was wasteful with that penalty. And Maupay can't hit a barndoor at the moment.

Lee Mason's clearly had an absolute shocker there and has cost us a goal.

All of that said, it's an exciting game of football, we're still very much in this, they look terrible at the back and the points are there to be won.

Bring on the 2nd half. Can't wait.

I bet Allardyce was in the ear of the 4th official all the time VAR were reviewing that goal that eventually wasn't. I wonder what Potts was doing, probably scribbling in his book must learn from that

I actually refuse to believe that Glen Murray wouldn't be doing a much better job for us even at his age than the utter dross we've currently got at our disposal up front.

Mark Farrington and Richard Tiltman would be doing a better job than Maupay and the rest of the strikers. Today Maupay has again not looked up when in the box, and also scuffed wide a chance. Game after game, but first man on the team sheet. Bizarre.
