I mean, textbook case of projection old chap? Do you honestly think people will be happy if we don’t win tomorrow, genuinely? That’s all I said - perfectly reasonable opinion

Nope, absolute meltdown on here is what will happen

There is a reasonable chance that we will get beaten or scrape a draw too, but one day (hopefully soon) we are going to destroy a team.

Luckily the season is not defined in the first 6 games

Of course it isn't decided after a few games - stating truisms doesn't really take us forward much - but with so many of the other unfashionable teams Southampton Villa Palace having had strong starts, we need to get moving at some point. We expect that to happen tomorrow and questions will be legimately asked if its another wasted week. Nothing against Potter, any manager for us would be getting this scrutiny

I think you need to recognise who we have played so far.

I've not looked at any froth either side of this. We were saying The same last year . . . . After a few months of potterball, soon we will destroy a team . . . . Still waiting . . . . It does increasingly look like we genuinely could, and I think We are getting Closer to the reality.

Scrap 3 points against WBA or even a point isn't the end of the world . . . . Save the tonking for Man City, or Lyver-pyule. We earn an extra spur when we get something from either. . . . We can do it.

So one nil up with 10 minutes to go and we draw to a team who are one of the clear relegation favourites.

Of course that was must win and goodness knows how much damage that does to the players psychologically. We simply cannot best out relegation rivals at home and it’s been going on all year.

All those who said this wasn’t a must win for that badly badly wrong. That was absolutely must win and we didn’t .

Well I’m gutted too, but.... it’s not a must win. Is it?

Were we relegated?

Of course it was must win. A chance to get the monkey off our back in relation to being unable to win at home especially against relegation rivals.

Now that monkey just got that bit heavier and we have Burnley at home next. The pressure for that just ramped up significantly.

But of course that won’t be seen as must win either.

Not this again, Manure we should of buried, Chelsea not that great got hit by a decent strike, Everton just got tonked by Saints why because they weren’t afraid to spend on a goal scorer.

I don’t think you understand what “must win” means.

Funny I don’t think you do either. Just because you aren’t relegated as a result of not winning doesn’t mean it isn’t termed ‘must win’

- We haven’t won at home in about ten games
- we haven’t beaten a relegation rival at home this year
- we have won four in 26
- this was a chance to open a gap over the relegation rivals
- this was a chance to break the mental issues we have winning at home
- we are playing a newly promoted team at hone.

Given all that if you don’t think this game was a must win you just don’t understand football.

The only game I am disappointed with in terms of actual points gained versus expected points gained before game started is the last one.

Saints goal scorer cost the same as Maupay! They have a manager that has the ability to motivate the team, we don’t unfortunately.

After seeing most of your posts since the game on Monday, this may well be the one that is revealing what little context you place on things.

Ralph Hasenhüttl was under immense pressure last season, and seemingly couldn't motivate the team for toffee. In case you don't recall, they lost 8 of their opening 12 fixtures. They got roundly beaten at home 1-3 by Bournemouth, and 4 games later were losing 0-9 to Leicester at home. Their record heading into Xmas was P17 W4 D3 L10 pts15.

However, Southampton didn't give in to pressure to sack him, stuck with him and he turned it around when they looked dead and buried. Even heading into the year, all wasn't rosy, they when P9 W3 D0 L6 pts 9. They may have won 3, but that was the same number of points we had over a similar period, only we weren't losing.

Really interesting you bring the Southampton manager into it, as he's surely an example of why you stick with Potter, and we're performing a lot better than Southampton were during their opening last season.
