Chciken Runner part of my point because thats exactly what the Palace fans said in the 1901, forget the defeat (And Im trying) its how our bitter rivals have perceived us the first time we've played them at the Amex that annoys me. Perhaps in the FA Cup this year or next year in the league we will beat them at the Amex but they will always be able to refer to the fact that we all but evacuated the ground last night, regardless of there being any other legitimate reasons for people leaving early.

i live 200 miles from the ground had to drive 3hrs each way to a game where the team showed no fight in the second half so i think that gives me a right to leave after the third goal i dont care what ian hart thinks.

Because at 1-3 down with seconds to go, and the way we were playing it was rather obvious that no "magical moments" were going to happen. I agree (to a certain extent) that I find it odd people leaving at 1-1 as stated on here, or even 1-2 for that matter, but I make absolutely no apology for leaving at 1-3.

1-3 with a minute to go is not really an issue is it? It is the 1-1 and 1-2 leavers that is an issue.

BTW, did you leave with a minute to go at the Liverpool, Leeds or Sunderland games?

Second point, Liverpool I wasn't going back to London so no, Leeds I didn't go, and Sunderland no, but I was standing by the exit and legged it the second the whistle went. It can literally make an hour's difference to the time I get home if I get to Falmer station before the majority. So if we are 3-1 down with a minute to go, I'd rather get home at midnight instead of 1am for the sake of watching an extra minute of a game we have already lost. If it was 2-1 I wouldn't leave until the whistle went. And if I lived in Brighton I wouldn't leave early ever.

As it happens, I got home at 1am anyway as I fell asleep on the tube, missed my stop and had to walk for half an hour to get home. What a night.

I left when it was 0-0 as I was worried about either side scoring and then there being a debate about whether it would be ok for me to leave because we were 1 up or 1 doen or whether we were playing well or not.

In fact, I left when I realised that I wasn't going to get a Harvey's 5 minutes before the game started. Bloody club. Can't sort the Harveys! I'm not waiting 15 years for this you know!

It was bloody hard getting out at 0-0 in fact. My way was constantly blocked by plastic mannequins that had been placed in all the seats and it was so hard moving their limbs about so I could get past them. Did it in the end though!

I left as Murray scored, not becuse I wanted to get away for the buses but I just felt physically ill watching them rip us to shreds in those last ten minutes (felt like they could have scored at will in that period) and I could not bear seeing and hearing them celebrating.

I left after the 2nd goal, and I don't even feel guilty for it, the 2nd half was an embarrassment, Palace wanted that so much more than we did.
I hate to say I told you so, but I've been saying all week, that Palace shouldn't have been under estimated, when most on here were saying we'd turn them over.
I'm not to sure if our players & management knew just how much that game meant to us fan's, if they did perhaps they would have made a little more effort in the 2nd half.
So no, bollocks I don't feel guilty for walking out, I didn't want to listen to the scum lording it over us.

I never leave early but I wanted to last night. Didn't, but I wanted to. Actually I have left early once, at 80 minutes in the 5-0.

So I think the reason we left early is BECAUSE we CARE so much about this result. and it was a humiliation that we didn't want to face up to, nor did we want to see them celebrating. Its not because we're full of plastics.

Those who left early missed CMS, the only Brighton player who had the balls to applaud all three sides of the stadium at the end of the game instead of scurrying off like the rest of the team. And the only one who deserved some applause back.

It was 3-1 with goals coming at the end of the match.
We played pretty crap for most of and it wasn't our finest hour I admit but it wasn't f-ing Dunkirk was it!

This thread seems to be missing a fairly major point. There needs to be a distinction between made between those who left at 3-1 and those who left at 2-1. Two entirely different things, to my mind.

Anyone who left at 3-1 was well within their rights to do so, and the players didn't deserve to be applauded off at the end so I'm glad they had to face an empty stadium.

However, anyone who left at 2-1 - i.e. with us still in the game and still able to realistically get a point - is not fit to call themselves a "supporter".

Shame on you if you did. Don't bother coming again.

While I'm at it I'll erase all my memories of Gillignahm, Withdean and away trips to Oldham, Burnley, Selhurst (5-0 and 0-1) and Wrexham.

I'll also get the club badge etched into my skin removed. In fact I'll hack it out myself with a razor.

Now come on, let's face it, if the second had gone in with 10 minutes, ra ther than one minute, to go then far fewer people would have left. As it was we had been poor for 69 minutes and that was the second goal we had let in in nine minutes. A chance of a comeback? Yes, in theory, but the way we were playing? Well, it was proved that the game did contain one more goal - sadly it was for them.

Why did I leave? Well, I was almost physically sick when the second went in, I couldn't face the sight of them celebrating at the final whistle being etched on my memory and, to be honest, I have to be up at 6am for work and I wanted to get home. It was a painful decision (albeit made in a nanosecond) but one that proved to be the correct on in terms of my mental health.

To be honest, I considered leaving at 1-0, the tension was unbearable. Winning but playing badly, nervous tension transmitting itself from the stands to the pitch and back again.

Still, what's done is done - the players needed a lift and as a crowd we didn't provide it. tension bred tension and there were a lot of disappointed people in Sussex and beyond last night.

But there will be other days. We're fifth in the league having picked up one point from a possible nine. We've got an international break to look forward to. We've got a brilliant stadium and a team that we know is a lot better than last night suggested.

It doesn't stop the hurt right now but we're in a better position than we have been in my lifetime. This is a painful blip but the trajectory is still the right one - on and off the pitch.

You don't just get get 15,000 new fans from nowhere, they are just plastics and it should be expected, most of them never went to Withdean. The real fans will be at Ipswich on Saturday

and all those who watched them at the Goldstone(only missed a few games in 20 odd years) losing to non-league clubs in the cups I suppose you might call me a JCL living in wales and not being able to get to matches but if anyone wants to donate their ST to me when I arrive back in the Brighton area it would be very much appreciated.
