Yes as there was a lot of weake sides in the league, this year there is not
west ham, sunderland, cardiff, wigan have replaced teams like walsall, bradford, sheff wed, grimsby
No, our team got weaker before the start of 02/03, I don't feel it has this time, we started that season with Hinshelwood, this time we start with a good manager. The players who are still here would have learnt from the mistakes.
Bit of both. Yes the division is stronger but as Buckingham says the team that started 02/03 was weaker than the one that finished 01/02. And by 'team' I'm including the mangement team.
So stonger division, but better team and better manager. Now we need a bit of luck (like not losing the star goalscorer for 12 games)
I wasn't optimistic - then went to watch first game at burnley where we played brilliantly and won 3-1 - those were of course about the only 3 points from the next 13 or so games.
This year, don't think we'll be anchored so much at the bottom but we'll struggle...
I was more optimistic 2002/2003. Purley because the Division looked weaker than this season. You looked at the Teams like Stoke, Grimsby, Walsall (Palace !!) and felt that there were some points that we could pick up. Ultimateley we failed to pick up many points against any of the bottom Teams.
This season I hope we are better prepared for what awaits us. If we can maintain our excellent home form and pick up points from the lesser Teams in the division then we should be ok.
We're better than last time, but so is everyone else. I think it's gonna go right to the wire again, with us in and out of the relegation zone all season. Hopefully we'll finish on the right side of it this time though.
I was more optimistic last time as I thought that there would be more teams in trouble following the crash of ITV Digital.
We didn't have players on high wage contracts, whereas many of our rivals were losing millions (e.g. Bradford City).
This year, I am more realistic. It's going to be a hard division looking at the teams we will be playing.....BUT we still have our (experienced) manager and a fair few of our players have experience at this level.
Was more optimistic last time but after 2 championships we felt invincible. we had to get knocked back down to earth at some point. causing us to be more realistic this time. this time i think we have a better team. and the optimisum is growing with each permenant signing we make. we will struggle but hopefully will survive this time.
and last time i also took into consideration what buzza says about itv digital colapse. i thought bradford would have been dead certs for the drop. but they left it till last season.
Think I'm more optimistic this time around. We've a manager in place who's "been there, done that" and a squad with bit of experience at this level now. Okay the division might look stronger this time around, and I agree we'll not set the division alight, but we'll stay up.
