I watched the whole game live on stream and thought we did play the ref and clock "better" than normal. But that was probably due to the fact that Spurs were desperate to get Mwepu sent off and went down at the slightest touch so we thought "OK -if that's how they are playing it so will we"

Without doubt the Spurs winger who lashed out with his elbow was a red card and VAR should have told the ref to overturn his decision of yellow. Cucurella saved him by making very little of it where as most players (especially Spurs) would have rolled around clutching their face.

It was interesting to read Spurs forums and Conte moaning about our black arts !

Kane had a double bad day as player and acting referee.

The only time I thought we were more streetwise, was when Gross went down with 'cramp' late in the game. I thought at last we have learnt how to slow the game down in the closing stages to ensure the defence are not put under early pressure, and everyone can have a breather.

Obviously the cramp may have been genuine, but only Gross knows for sure.

He played every minute against Arsenal & then Tottenham. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he had cramp. He's not normally one for theatrics of any kind.

I don't think Kane managed a single dive all game, mainly because he rarely got anywhere near the ball. Presumably some people think that's against the natural order of things.

The elbow was the most Continental incident of the whole weekend. Should have been a nailed on red but wasn't because of Cucurella's overreaction to try and get the card (IMO).

The way I saw it, Cucu got a flick on the end of the nose and waved his arms about in the classic Latin way.

Ref gave a yellow and we move on

IF Cucu had over reacted he'd have been rolling around on the floor, like he'd been glassed . . . rubbing his face to make it red . . .which would have forced VAR, and the Spuds bell end would have got a straight red

Seein Kane hobbling after deliberately trying to foul Sanchez and win a penalty for himself was sweet, unlike the time he did Lallana on the edge of the box a year or two ago. I'd take great delight in seeing the cheating wanker stretchered off against us.

I didn’t see us as niggly, we just stood our ground and refused to be bullied. Kane trying to run though Dunk and Kane on Sanchez with an unnecessary barge on him which left Kane hobbling, being good examples. We were not niggly and we weren’t cheating imo

Kane can’t complain about getting a knock when he barges a keeper when they’re in mid air. He’s got previous.
I thought he raised his knee a little high when bumping into Dunk’s back too.

Like you said, we didn’t let ourselves get bullied which is something we’ve been guilty of before.

In my opinion the ref had a very decent game and called out Spurs’ whining and overreactions as just that. Some referees fall for it time and time again.

EVERYONE else does it when they come to the Amex, even the very best of teams. Niggly fouls to slow down any promising moves we have, going down like they've been shot by the 'man of the grassy knoll' when tackled by our players, taking an age to come off as a substitute, etc, etc.

About bloody time we join this particular party, fed up with being a soft touch and been taken for a rise most games, the last few notwithstanding

I'm sure I saw him do one when in quite a tight spot but it was done at lightning speed, for him, so you may have missed it.

Standard Premier league over reaction is to throw yourself to the deck whenever there is a chance of a red for the opposition.
An elbow was thrown with intent.
Sure he didn't fully connect, but it was there.
Cucu could easily have made more of it than he did.

Compare that with the reaction from spurs players, every time Mwepu was involved in an accidental foul, after his yellow,

If I'm larking about with my mates having a kickaround and one of their elbows grazes my neck and I hold my eyes with both hands they're never going to let me hear the end of it. The fact that is "good" in comparison with other incidents isn't a good thing. Frankly it illustrates again why I can't fall in love with the Premier League.

Just picking up on your opinion that his over-reaction was to get a red.
If so it was a long way short of the mark.
It didn't trigger a VAR review (as far as I'm aware) so it can hardly be called out as an over-reaction. IMO.
