In terms of nationally affliated supporters club membership, Leeds are something like the 4th biggest club in the country. That's why they fill the away end down here for a Friday night game on television.

The pubs want their beer sold, and they do this by showing live sport. Leeds on telly will bring punters into pubs all over the country. For that reason, Sky will show the games that the pubs want shown because they pay a lot of money for Sky Sports.

This. I have no idea why people are baffled year in year out by the amount of Leeds games being shown. It's completely logical.

The ultimate end game would be a television channel controlling team selections .
Think that's prosperous ?
This was yesterday's leads sports story here in Oz yesterday ;

Channel Nine declares it wants a say in team selection

Not the real one
Is there anyway to find out which matches will be shown live at 3pm on Al Jazeera? Because these matches are always the ones where you get a stream or get shown extended highlights on FLS.

We may well be on S4C though for the Crappy Old Cup game game against Newport?... Which can only be a good thing if the match tickets are gonna be over £15.

If 20000 signed up for the auto cup scheme , don't be suprised to see normal league prices!

sky are just carrying on from last season by picking Leicester and Leeds because there always live on sky so nothing new there

There are lots of factors that are considered when picking these matches but mostly its historical viewing figures and net worth of sponsorship airtime. Both Sky and the Football League will have very long meetings trawling through % airtime results for individual sponsors based on previous broadcasts. They will then decide which matches and which teams provide the best opportunity for them to make a strong return.

Its nothing personal towards the clubs, its business!

Newport County supporters regularly complain about S4C. The issues are twofold:-

1. S4C always ignore Newport County.

2. No-one in Newport speaks Welsh, so S4C's coverage of Newport County never reaches the supporters.

I watched the FA Trophy final on S4C, and they offered English commentary via the red button!

The reason why Leeds and Leicester are always televised is because Leeds fans dole money can only pay for either Sky or a Season ticket, not both... Therefore Sky have to accomodate these people to warrant getting that money they qued over half an hour for at the post office!
