The trouble is that it's the older people that tend to vote so the Councillors only need to panda to their needs in order to get re-elected

Which is even more reason why the younger people of Worthing need to get off their ass and vote.

My Dad always says, you will never change Worthing, it has always been the same.

Well now its time for change or Iam off to pastures new.

And there lies the problem. I think it'll be fair to say not too many people in the 18-25 range voted yesterday. (I'm making an assumation but when I went to the polling station I was the youngest there by a good 10-15 years i reckon)

Oh and more flats planned for the land west of West Worthing station.

Ideal for a quiet nights sleep!

God help us - the Tories are in charge fo the next two years. Prepare for budget cuts and inactivity

They can do no worse than the current regime:

Hill Barn Golf Course - local amenity - SOLD

Chief Exec - In legal dispute with WBC over stress (Tribunal / legal costs will be payed by local tax payers as will the the compensation)

Teville Gate rotting away - no action / decision...INACTIVITY

Aquarina to be sold to relocate out of town (Durrington). Another capital reciept to sqander.

Better inactivity than bloody bad Managemant the current Twats have been responsible for

I beleive the logic (if you can call it that) was that the Grafon mulit storey on the sea front is falling down and costing too much to repair....so they sold it.

As for the others....? Yes must have been a good source of income.

That's because they don't offer/give enough info for the younger people to know what they are voting for so, they don't get up off thier arses too vote.

A multiplex cinema............... things to do for the youngsters.. pah. Why can`t they go round breaking windows and shoplifting like we did when we were kids. You never saw us hanging around the house trying to get another couple of quid out of our parents. We went out and stole it for ourselves. We made our own entertainment as well like terrorising the elderly and torturing peoples pets but the youth of today want it all done for em.

I was working on the election team last night/this morning (on no - my secret life as a civil servant is exposed).

It didn't matter who won as they are all as bad as each other. The only good thing about the result is that with such a majority there should be some stability about the administration for at least three years and maybe they will make some real decisions.

However it was good to see Paul High (Con) wearing a blue and white striped Albion club tie for the night.

Also, Emily of the Albion was there in her real reporters role and was last seen trying to avoid the dodgy chat up lines of another candidate!

These are not quite accurate - only the Herald's viewpoint.

Hill Barn Golf Course - sold and money set aside for new Aquarena

Chief Exec - off with stress due to bullying allegation brought by other STAFF. She decided to issue counter-claim to muddy the waters and drag the process on. In reality she is a hopeless Chief Exec and shouldn't have been given the job in the first place. Appointed by the Tories without advertising the job through the normal channels

Teville Gate - both parties have been guilty of allowing this to drag on. A planning application is imminent but was put on the back burner until after the election

It's actually the Tories that want to move the Aquarena - the Lib Dems want it built on the present site and were going to sell a piece of land in Eirene Road to help fund the development (added to the money from the Golf Course sales)

The car parks are run as a contract by NCP - the Council still owns them. The arrangement is a revenue sharing contract, with NCP agreeing to completely refurbish them. It would have cost the Council millions to do this.

Unfortunately, much of the unseen work was undermined by the Herald in their 'campaigning for a better town'. What this will do is actually set us back, since all we can look forward to now is a few more palm trees along the prom and not real improvements
