Where did you get that from?

From the news story I "borrowed" above it's £1M a week. That's £142,857.14 (approximately) a day.

Or are there 8 1/3 days a week in your world? ???

I am looking, but I can't find it again. A phantom article somewhere!

actually i think the problem lies with inability to guarantee the supply of steel. The chinese are flooding the market with demand for the beijing olympics which means that the price has gone through the roof - not good news for those contractors on a fixed price contract

One of the biggest issues has been land rental on portacabins and labour disputes with electricians.

Multiplex claerly missed a trick on the bigger picture, doubt they will reek vengeance on FA but the FA will lose revenue as mentioned.

What hope the Olympics infrastructure delivered for 2012 ?

I believe The F/A, have built in cost budget,i/e any overspend by the builders cannot be then given to the owners. However this is the F/A. So expect the worse.

Am I talking nonsense - but wasn't there some issue with the old owners of the land (Wembley plc?) charging rental on land that they still owned ?

From the BBC

# The Scottish Parliament at Holyrood cost more than 10 times its original £40m estimate and was completed three years late in 2004 for £431m.

# The national air traffic control centre at Swanwick, Hampshire, had been due to open in 1996 and cost £350m. It eventually opened in 2002, having cost £623m.

# The new British Library, opened in 1997 at a cost of £511m. It was three times over-budget - and construction work had overrun by five years.

# The privately-financed Channel Tunnel opened a year behind schedule in 1994, at a cost of £10bn - more than double the original budget.

Personally, I think it will worth the wait.

The best football stadium in the world.
