Wembley - Is it a Northern thing?

I noticed that. LOTS of moaning, despite the fact that we seemed to be moving at a faster rate than at the Old Wembley, and were only stopped once. Plenty of time to take photographs of the lit up arch, and generally less of a crush.

Oh well

Coming out of the game last night I accept it took a while, but you kind of expect that with 90,000 people all trying to get out at the same time. But, all I could hear were on the slow walk to Wembley Park tube was northern accents moaning about how bad it all was, how nothing has changed and one particularly baffling comment about how Cardiff was so much better.

What do these people expect? Until some sort of Star Trek style travel is invented don't we just have to accept that crowds mean congestion.

I have being all serious at this time of the morning on a Saturday, but I thought Wembley was great and I am pissed off that all some people can do is find feckin fault!

I hate Fat Frank!

Millenium stadium is better than Wembley I'm afraid.

I'm not quite sure how you've reached that conclusion.

Location of Millenium Stadium is better perhaps - it's surrounded by pubs in a nice setting.

But other than that, Wembley kicks it into touch in EVERY department.

Odd - last Sunday, getting away and onto a train back to central London was dead easy. OK, the crowd was only 60k and it was tipping down, so people kept moving, but the only blockages were the mounted policemen. At the MillStad after our play-off final, the queues trying to get into the station were nightmarish.
Don't worry about the surroundings - the whole area's being redeveloped with bars and restaurants and squares and things. Give it three years and it'll be great.

I'll get my coat.............................

Why make that joke? it's nearly two years ago. Plus it happened around Stockwell, which is not only on the south of the thames, but also on the northern and victoria lines, neither of which run to wembley park.

I know many will not agree, but for me the location is vital. The build up and atmosphere around the stadium makes for a more entertertaining day out for me, and so in my opinion makes it the better stadium.

I know what ya mean, but I think you need to go to Wembley knowing it has never been like that and never will. You do the drinking/socialising bit in the centre of London and the good bit is thousands of people pouring out from all over into Wembley Way. Hopefully singing a rousing rendition of Sussex By The Sea.

Was in awe of the place, although we should put in a bid to move it down the south coast and make it our home ;)

Perhaps we are very used to long journey times down here in the South. Queing for the tube/bus/train is part of our life. Whenever I am in Manchester/Leeds/Liverpool etc travelling seems much less complicated and getting out of places after an event does not take so long.

Same here...the funniest thing was this bloke who was moaning to the police about the fact he had been kept waiting for 20 minutes and meanwhile, everyone was moving toward the station. The police were getting really cheesed off with him and my son said:

"Dad, if that man stopped moaning about being held back, he'd be ahead of us going toward the station by now!!"

Some people are so stupid and I'd agree, the only ones moaning were the northerners! Its a shame their dole money gets paid straight into their bank accounts as in the old days, they'd be used to standing in a queue!!

Anyone who drives to Cardiff for a big match is crazy. Ditto Wembley.

Given our recent experience of waiting nearly an hour to cross the Severn Bridge on the way to Swansea, I think you can safely include "all of south Wales" in that statement
