If it was done on Fifa rankings this would be the order:

10th - Croatia
11th - Portugal
12th - Greece
22nd - Sweden
25th - France
26th - Ukraine
31st - Romania
54th - Iceland

We will see, but I imagine Uefa will find a way to make France a seed as they won't want a big country missing out as that is lost revenue.

You are right, I didn't realise that before I started rambling about possible draws. I still think these things are manipulated, and in this instance the biggest reason to do so would be to get France and Portugal to the tournament.

Fifa will not want one of the two best players in the world to miss out on a World Cup at his peak age. CR7 will generate more interest/excitement/money than the entire squads of Iceland, Romania or Ukraine.

They didn't seed the play offs in the past - it's a fairly recent innovation. I'm not sure what I think about it.

I do, however, think that Fifa's seedings are utterly ridiculous.
