That’s because these people don’t actually know what they’re talking about. I don’t mean that as a slur. I mean it as a statement of fact. Their opinions and thoughts are so disjointed precisely because they are not fully formed. Probably because they have inherited these opinions from parents and so never questioned them. And through sources like The Daily Mail and Foxhole.
They read an opinion that is against foreigners and think “that fits me, I’ll have that”.

It why they see a thread like this as an opportunity to spread hatred and racism and not a chance to learn something or celebrate Britain’s true diversity.

It’s not their fault, they’ve just lived sheltered lives and as a result are somewhat narrow minded.

Luckily the vast majority of people in Britain aren’t as parochial as the handful on here who troll threads like this. Forgive them, they really don’t know what they do. They deserve our pity, really.

tens of thousands of people desperate to get out of Zim , one of Blairs promises to give Mugabe millions to bail out white farmers , never happened so thousands of farmers walked off their lands expecting to be compensated and got two thirds of **** all .......there are many , many Brit descendant folk living in poverty in Zimbabwe right now but because they were born in Zim /Rhodesia they have no birth right to enter the UK ........fair play to Bruno though , hope it all works out for him.

And the time wasters will hopefully get turned down and returned to COF. I'm not sure how I'm failing to see that. I'm just not sure it's down to people like you and me to judge who is worthy or not. However, we have an obligation by law to accept refugees. I think it would be preferable to create safe passage for them but that could lead to manifold problems that would take a long time to sort out. But they will come, whatever we do so we may as well try and speed up the process of asylum and treat them humanely while they are here.
This thread is not celebrating criminals getting into the country or gangs who people smuggle. It's celebrating what Britain does to help refugees. Nothing more, nothing less. So it seems pretty irrelevant to troll it with horror stories.
Start your own thread about the downsides of refugees and asylum seekers if you so wish. We all know your attitude and opinion on the matter, why repeat yourself again and again on a thread that has nothing to do with your agenda.

You keep repeating this whilst refusing to accept safe passage for refugees already exists under the vulnerable programme in conjunction with the UNHCR. The vulnerable stuck in refugee camps should be our priority, not people using illegal means that cause death across the channel.
No one on this thread has said anything bad about refugees, everyone is welcoming about refugees.
Some people cannot differentiate between refugees and asylum seekers, including you who started a thread about welcoming refugees based on what was happening at a holding centre for asylum seekers........you know, the people you said yourself cant be trusted to live amongst your family and should be kept only in secure accommodation .......i am not surprised you are on the back foot

You carry on kidding yourself, no one's denying geniune people refuge, what people like yourself fail to see is that the majority of people making illegal crossings of the channel are in fact complete time wasters and a drain on this country
wake up and stop walking around in a dream most people are not supportive of illegal entry into the UK

Exactly, no one on here has said genuine refugees should be denied refuge.
We should take as many as possible and prioritise the most vulnerable. The ones that are in UN camps who cant help themselves and need help, the ones who have especially been on the receiving end of horrible acts.
There is a downside to this though, these people need specialist help if they come here, their children might need it to.
There is only so much that can go around and only so many qualified people. UK citizens should not be denied these services because refugees are causing a burden.
Its a balancing act.
Asylum seekers fleeing safe EU countries for the UK using human smugglers should be stamped out. Waving banners saying refugees welcome, ,including asylum seekers in that and portraying the message ...get here however you can......is perverse and evil when it causes so many deaths.

Salt of the earth these people, brain surgeons, nuclear scientists, just want a place in our schools so they can get an education.
As you said earlier, Bette started this thread, now he wants to wash his grubby hands of it. Needs to grow a pair and own it.

I See you and PPF are kindred spirits now, nice

I always find it odd on the subject of asylum seeker / refugees you are argue we are poor and can't afford, there are only finite resources, but when other subjects around government waste, Brexit and cronyism are discussed the same people are strangely quiet. Like, in terms of Brexit no matter how much much economic harm or how big the bottomless pit of cash we have to pour into it - so be it, but then on this subject we must be frugal even though by comparison it's probably a drop in the ocean

Refugees lighten UK farmer’s load in lambing season!

What a great story! And it's relevant to refugees and asylum seekers, so should appeal across the board....

Yorkshire farm arranges volunteer days that help counter isolation and stress among refugees and asylum seekers...

For many asylum-seekers in the UK, the wait for a decision on their claim can be long and lonely, stretching for months, even years. Most aren’t allowed to work during this time, requiring them to live on as little as £5 a day. The housing they are provided is often poor.

Volunteer days like this help counter the isolation and stress of being stuck in limbo in the asylum process. “In terms of the mental health of asylum-seekers and refugees, these kinds of trips are really helpful,” said Saad Hashmi, an asylum-seeker from Pakistan, before he successfully tackled another lamb, passing it to Beresford for tagging.

Saying there are only so many qualified people available to offer specialist help is not arguing we are poor and cant afford it. That is your stupid interpretation.
Dumb post.

It’s perfectly reasonable to question the immigration situation in the U.K. but it’s always worth educating yourself. Learning the facts can often lay to rest the understandable concerns some people have.
